Got my pipe and it looks nice!

One question, on the inside of your pipe, is there a small dent indentation sticking inwards for some unknown reason? About the size of a finger tip.

Cause mine is doing that!

Installed my pipe on Saturday. My friend put it on his lift and in about 10 minutes we were done. Fitament was good and YES YOU DO NEED THE INSTALL KIT OR SOME NUTS AND BOLTS! The bolts on the stock cat are welded to it so when you remove it you will need new nuts and bolts.

I saw a slight increase in pickup at about 5k rpm and up. Noise level didn't increase at all!!

Overall, I am very happy with the pipe and thank Greg again!!

nice, i actually raced my friend's TL today and for the first time i shifted at high rpm's and i felt extra power. Yo, i can honestly say that i can take an automatic TL now, 2002 TL. i have less HP but with my mods, my light body and 5 speed vs auto, i can keep up wit an auto and most likely beat one....

so the install kit DOESN'T come complete? Why do I have to go out and buy new bolts?

No, install kit comes complete with 4 (bolts, nuts, washers) and two gaskets -all the stuff you need. If you don't get the install kit you'll need to source all of those things.

and if yours is 2002 then it's going to cost more then $18 for the parts from the dealers.... and autoshops won't have those parts yet b/c it's brand new car.... so it's worth the $18 for the kit....
which i'm waiting for..... hopefully i can get it today.... had some mix up with the order but i'm sure greg has fixed it

to those who installed the test pipe:
does it make the exhaust gas smell like crap? I am thinking about having someone following me after I installed it and either roll down the window or turn on the AC and see if he can smell it. If he can, then cops can.

The only thing I smelt was the usual burning of the coating or insulation. It went away later the same day.

I called up one of the representatives from custommaxima.com to see if i can still get in on the GD. They said they can only take off $20 from the original price for a total of $79 not including shipping.

yup..that's in Cali. Cat shouldnt be taken off for any purpose. The best thing to do is to punch your own cat and turned it into a ghetto test pipe. That will pass the visual for sure. Glad that greg's test pipe does not look like usual 25 dollar thin test pipe. Dunno if cops are smart enough to find out.

good to hear that it doesnt smell too bad.....I wonder if I will smell anything on my SC'ed maxima.

My pipe stunk like crazy for the firwst 20 minutes. I love it though. My auto shifts at higher RPMs and there is considerably more torque. I actually spun my tires for the first time in months last night. Noise is also louder on my car with cattmans full exhaust and frankentake. Definitely worth 50 bones though.

I forgot to mention earlier but....

When I installed the test pipe, I noticed that the pipe coming out of the resonator was "pinched" to the point where you could honestly slide only 2 poker chips through. That's how "flat" the pipe was pinched. I guess Nissan overlooked the brace or bracket things that the pipe had to go over, so they just pinched it. Whatever the reason, it looks kinda sad. The pipes are already kinda small (1 7/8"?), and now they pinch it to the point where it just chokes the exhaust to death!!!

Oh well, just wanted to let you know my observation. I guess an aftermarket exhaust would REALLY open things up. Any opinions on Greddy vs. Cattman for the 2k2?

that's true, but with a prefabed unit, you kinda know what to expect in terms of sound and performance, by asking people who already have it. With a custom exhaust, you have to determine size of pipe and what kind of muffler. Then you just have to cross your fingers and hope that it sounds okay. That's my only concern with getting a custom catback system... the unknown.

Get the Cattman b-pipe. You'll apreciate the big resonator on it if you went with some other type of exhaust.
