Possible GD: Custom Made Projects by Illustion Lighting

Wassup fellas. I was searching the net about projects and HIDs the other day. As you all know our beam pattern is no good when it comes to the wonderful HID. But I might have a solution to this. I found a website that can retrofit HIDs into custom projector housings. After browsing their site, I was quite impressed by their work. They can use Hella projectors which is great quality. They only show their work on Accords, Civics, and a Lexus. I emailed them to find out if they have ever done a Maxima before. They emailed me back that they have worked on a 98 before, they show me 2 pics of 2 different accords that had similar work done, just so I can see what it might look like in a maxima housing.

Well the conversion is not cheap. They have different stages depending on what type of projectors that will be used. It looks like a legit buy and Im wondering if anyone else would be intrested. The website is Illusion-Lighting Check out their site for they have a gallery. They emailed me that they are willing to start a group deal but of course it all depends on how many are intrested in this.

Yeah, the cars do look great. Im trying to wait and see if anyone else is intrested. I know how bad everyone wants projects and I know that these are a little expensive but the quality is there. I mean you have the option to use Hella projectors which I believe is almost the best in the market. So we will see!

Ok I found out so far that we would have to mail them our headlight housings which Im not to happy about. Im still trying to find out what would be our downtime cuz of that. Also, he told me a price of $700. Of course with a good amount of people who are dedicated, maybe we can bring him down to $600....hopefully. I will keep yall updated.

Is that for HID projectors? With or without a high beam? If you had enough people perhaps everyone could pitch in for a new or used set of headlights and just take turns sending theirs in to be modified for the next person. I might be interested but I would like to see what they looked like on a Max before I dropped 6-700 bucks.

It is for HID projectors, so that is where most of the money is going. He emailed me back again and told me that he could keep the high beam but that would require more complex projectors and more labor for the wiring. Im still trying to get exact pricing. He said that w/ 5 people he could give us a $50 discount.

He said that our projects could be made to look like this

or like this:

So $600-700 gets us projectors fitted into our housings and new HID ballasts and bulbs? What projectors, ballasts, and bulbs will they be using?

They have emailed me back with a price for 5 people and I quote...

"Total cost would be $700 for stage 2 or $1350 for stage 3. Turn around time is around 1 weekend for a order of 5."

Not bad, only a weekend w/o headlights isn't bad...I just might do this. Let me know what you guys think.

Hi maxima people

Let me see if we (Illusion Lighting) can answer some of your questions.

We offer 3 stages.

Stage 1 - DOT Halogen projector
Stage 2 - DOT xenon projector
Stage 3 - ECE xenon projector

Since it seems that most people here are only interested in Stage 2 or 3, I'll keep this post focused on that. Stage 2 pricing starts at $700, while stage 3 pricing starts at $1400. Currently we have the option avaible to upgrade your stage 2 to ece spec projectors for an additional $300. The primary difference between the two stages is the optics. DOT is used here in the states whereas ECE is used in Europe. As for pricing on the group buy, there was a mistake in one of the emails. Pricing will be $650 for stage 2, $950 for stage 2 upgraded to ECE, and $1350 for stage 3 if at least 5 people are interested. The pricing may change slightly depending on how many more/less people are involved.

Questions about hi/low beams
Keeping the high beam is possible, but a different projector will be
needed. Pricing for this setup will be an additional $150 on top of stage 2. High beams is not avaible for our stage 3 retrofit.

Pictures
We don't have any pictures of the Maxima that we did in the past, but it looks similiar to the other cars on the site. You have the option of having us build a cosmetic wall to give it a more flush appearance if u like. The cost to build the cosmetic wall is $50. The cosmetic wall can be either painted flat black, or just left industrial steel, or brushed aluminum.

Parts
The projector will depend on what is requested. Stage 2 usually uses a Bosch projector. If a high beam is required a Hella projector will be used. For stage 3, a Valeo projector is usually used, but may vary depending on what is avaible at the time. Bulbs are either osram or phillips and ballast are either bosch or hella.

Well guys, after serious consideration, Im gonna go ahead and do this. I guess Ill be the guinea pig. I should have the money pretty soon and Im gonna get the stage 2 kit, maybe upgrade the projector to a ECE spec projector. I need yalls opinion though, should I get it to have a purplish tint or blueish tint? I think I might go purple cuz I got the Hanabi 8k kit which is blue already and I might want something different.

Hey see_fu, could you get projects from other cars, like a Honda S2000, or infinity Q45. Their projectors is crazy

Those 2 projectors would be extremely expensive. You would be better off going with ECE projectors.

would you also be able to manufacture these for 3rd generation headlights for the same price as quoted? also would it be possible to get the projectors made without putting the bulbs in or would the wiring(seeing as it may be custom) be not straightforward and simple?

How Many?

Hey,

How many people are interested? I am interested if you could make them A Dual projector one for the low (HID) and one for the High. That's the stage two, right? W/ the extra 150?

Sorry for the dumb questions!

I couldn't even give you a figure if I tried. Pricing on something like that would be completely dependant on what my supplier charges me for the parts. But we're talking over $1500 easily.

Retrofit for 3rd gen is possible but is going to cost more since we will need to remove those fluted textures on your lens. Will cost an additional $150.

What about what DaThrillr and I suggested. Could they make it a one peice fit for the fourth gen. Cefiro style headlight setup, they would be nice as hell.
