If it's a Sirius ready receiver, then you can just run it straight to the HU. You won't need to use the FM Modulator.

This deal is for Kenwood Sirius gear. If you already have a Kenwood Sirius-ready headunit, it will hook right up. Otherwise, you're still stuck with the FM mod.
The FM mod controller comes with a plate for mounting it in a DIN space, so mine will be going right under my CD player.

I remember that one too, but he hasn't posted since the beginning of December and hasn't replied to my PM. Wouldn't you think that position would be a little distracting though?

I am waiting to see how my 2nd BOSE unit turns out before I do anything with satellite radio.

I bought the same setup at Best Buy for 79 dollars and 50 dollars for the antenna. I'm not bound to any contract and I paid for it using a gift certificate I got for christmas. So it was all free! =P Anyways. Here is a quick write up.
I have a 4th gen maxima with a BOSE system. To use the FM Modulator you need to get two diversity antenna adaptors. You can get these at Crutchfield. The two you're going to get are different. They work together to get the FM Modulator spliced in to the antenna system.
My Setup is as follows:
Satellite tuner is in the trunk. Battery power is provided by a live wire I found off a harness on the driver side of the trunk behind the lining. Ground is provided by any bolt that goes in to the metal of the car. I used a bolt in the jack area. The satellite antenna sits between the speakers inside the car. The wires from the antenna runs between the back seat and the rear deck inside the car. The wire from the tuner to the FM modulator runs in through the trunk pass through and under the back seat. The FM modulator unit itself sits under the cup holder inside the center console. Just pull the cup holder out. The FM modulator needs battery power, switched power and ground. Ground is provided by a bolt that holds the handbrake in place. Switched power is provided by the heated seat switch. Battery power is provided by a wire under the driver seat from the power seats. It's one of the two wire harnesses mounted right under the seat. Then take the front console apart and remove the stereo. Insall the diversity antenna adaptor and power everything up. Check what frequency your FM Modulator is tuned to. Then tune your radio to that frequency. If you hear sound. GOOD! If you hear a faint fuzz. The diversity antenna adaptor that plugs in to the head unit is reversed! I had to take the head of the adaptor apart and reverse it. I mount my control head to the door of the pocket under the head unit with velcro. When I park my car I can take the head unit and put it in the arm rest compartment.
Note: Make sure you bind the diversity antenna adaptors to existing wiring. This will prevent rattles. Just push the cup holder assembly back down. It will be a tight fit because the modulator box is there. The bottom of the cup holder will push the box down and prevent it from rattling. Button everything up and enjoy.
I've had this setup for two days and it's great. The way I did it may be a little ghetto. But I'm by no way a professional car audio installer. My way works though. Make sure you have a volt meter to find the battery and switched wires. Stick to wiring harnesses because you can remove the harness and test the leads without splicing in to wires.

I guess some of you 4th Gen's missed my "Nissan's FM Diversity" lesson over in the audio forum. Basically speaking, you don't need the FM antenna adapters for the 4th Gen Max's. Inside the trunk where the jack is stored is the factory antenna. Feel the cable coming off of it and you'll find a connector 3-6" down the cable. Unplug the connector and insert the FM modulator there. It's a standard antenna connector, and doesn't require $20 in adapters ($10 each) nor removal of the HU.
I haven't pulled apart my 5th gen enough to see if the rear-window-mounted antenna uses the same standard adapter or not. I have the adapters from my 93 Max, so I may just use them this time around.
On another note, it's January 30 and no UPS packages yet. How am I to activate a system by January 31 if I don't have it by then. They can't expect me to install it the same day I get it (at 5:45 in the afternoon) AND activate it the same day. Oh well. We'll see what happens.

remember, guys, that i am workin on a way to hook it up to an aux input for aftermarket receivers, or you could use it for headphones, a tape deck adaptor, whatever you want. i just need the damn gear so i can finalize my ideas!
I did look in there and didn't find the connector. Or maybe I just couldn't get my hand in there far enough. Either way, I think the FM Modulator has to be closer to the front of the car because of the control head. The FM Modulator was meant to be put near the head unit.

i received my gear yesterday. wuhooo! i was worried about the jan 31st activation deadline so i called them today and the rep said that they already had my name on file, which means i wil not have to worry about rushing activation.
another thing he mentioned was that we have to activate service over the phone instead of online. he said, "thats how we do it when you get an accommodations deal." can anyone confirm this? saving $10 would be a cherry on top for this deal.
how is the reception with the antenna inside? is anyone mounting the antenna on the roof or would zumble's method work alright?

I'm sure mounting it inside the car isn't as good as mounting it outside. I've had a few drop outs while in the city around large buildings. The systems still gets great reception from inside my garage. I really don't want to mount the antenna on the outside of the car. It will just attract theives.

fret not. i've got it in the bag. like i said, i already have the pinouts for the cables, and you just have to tap into the cable or the receptacle on 3 wires: L,R,comm. My guess is that it will be easiest to hack the tuner box, or the control box and put a 1/8" stereo receptacle on it. Should be a 20min job once i figure out what wire is where inside the box.
