As promised.. ACT Group Buy 89-99 & 00-01.. open until 2/15/03

Here's what we've got. You have your choice of what you want to buy.

You can go with just the pressure plate and disc for a price of $270.00 (part #'s N015 and NSD007M)

Or you can purchase the full kit with plate, disc, throwout/release bearing, alignment tool, pilot bearing for $300.00

I need 5 buyers to make this price happen.. if your interested you MUST email me at clickandwhir@hotmail.com so I can keep track. We currently have only one clutch in stock but we have 5 more sets on their way so shipping will start 5 days from when I get the 5th buyer or after 2/15/03 whichever happens first. Right now there are only 6 kits available BUT if others are interested and we get over 10 buyers.. the price will drop to

disc/plate $260.00

full kit $290.00

We worked hard to make sure we can get these prices for you guys and work on building our rep on .org. After the initial 6 kits are gone it will take approximately 2-2.5 weeks before we have anymore available to us. So anyone that orders after the 6th buyer BE AWARE it will take about 30 days or so for you to get your clutch if you don't make the initial order of 6 clutches don't plan on having your clutch in a week so you can replace yours thats slipping. I will be handling the emails and compiling a list of buyers. This is first come first serve. We accept credit card via email or over the phone. We will bill your credit card for 50% when you place the order then bill you for the remaining amount once we ship the clutch. All clutches will be shipping from ZIP 55408 in Minneapolis, MN. All deposits are NON-refunable if YOU back out because of things like, lack of funds, etc. We simply can not afford to have 20 clutches in stock that people do not pay for. It's happened in other group deals here lets not have it happen here.
We are not here to scam you and I am laying all this info out UP FRONT so everyone knows where he/she is. I will leave this group buy open until 2/15/03 and once we reach that date I will start shipping clutches. Thanks guys..

Hey Justin!

I just noticed that you only have 1989-99 listed ... this clutch kit NM1-HDMM will actually work on the 2000 & 2001 Maxima's. You can do a search in the 5th gen forum to confirm this.

You are correct... its a "gut reaction" to say 89-99 lol.. I always forget the 00 and 01 cars still used the same clutch. So this is open to 5th gen guys

Shipping IS NOT included in this price. Simply put if I threw in shipping I wouldn't make a dime. However being in the middle of the country we've estimated the shipping and have sent clutches to FL, CA, WA, NY and it never ends up being over $20 in the continental US. We charge ACTUAL shipping only not inflated shipping to save our profit margin. Last estimate I made was to LA and that was right in the $10-12 range. So you do the math. It's still a far better deal than your going to get anywhere else. Justin

I have no guarantees I can offer the same price in 1 months time. If I have stock on hand in 1 month I'll see what I can do. Email me and we can discuss it. Right now this pricing is good only until 2/15

Put me down

I have sent you an email. I know that ACT offers a couple of different models, is this the correct one for lightly modified cars, and are you sure it fights a 01 SE? Sorry for the noob like questions.

How does this compare to the unorthodox clutch? How is this clutch for an everyday driver? Any idea on approximate install cost/time?

I think I noticed my clutch slipping the other day but I am not positive, the tires may have been spinning. Any way to tell the condition of the clutch other than the obvious, noticable slipping? Can a mechanic tell by looking at it? Or do I have to do a hard launch on dry pavement and see what happens? How long after a clutch starts slipping does it become a major problem?

This is the correct "stage one" clutch (2100 series) for lightly to heavily modded vehicles. It supports up to 362lbs of torque and has a clamping force of 39% more than the factory/OE clutch. did you get my email response as well?.. Thanks

I haven't actually ever had much experience with the UR clutch. I know a little about their flywheels but mostly we stick with the same UR products everyone else does.. .pulleys. So basically its hard for me to compare the two without knowing the "other". The ACT clutch is of a high quality material and manufacturing and frankly I haven't had any issues with them... even from people who "dog" their clutches.

Approximate install time is in the 4-5 hours ball park. Cost will vary depending on your location and who you choose to do you work... i.e. your cousin eddy might do it for $50 while joe at import repair might charge you more like $250.

There is a way to inspect the clutch without dropping the trans.. thats by pulling the starter and checking the wear/thicking on the surface of the disc. Keep in mind this is not a fool proof method and condition/life of the clutch depends largely on the driver.

This clutch is not a bad setup for an everyday driver.. definately stiffer/grabbier than stock and it will take 3-6 weeks of normal daily driving to "break it in" so its not so grabby.

You can somewhat tell if the clutch is slipping if the motor is revving alot faster than the mph is climbing. Keep in mind this is in normal driving conditions at low-mid-high rpms' not from a standing stop "dumping" the clutch. If your unsure the condition of your clutch try asking someone in your area with more experience to diagnois it for you. Or take it to a professional shop as I always recommend. Thanks

The price is still $300.. I only got 8 people interested.. not 10

I only have "confirmation" on 6 thus far... so we'll see.. for this sort of price I figured I'd have more interest but we'll see since this is my first GD hopefully I'll get some good feedback and people will trust my rep a little more.

That or its like someone else said.. on .org if you aren't giving it away most people turn up their noses. Weird considering I get more enthusiasm from Honda group buys than Maxima folks.. and there are Tons more guys out there for the Honda folk. Oh well... Justin

Maybe start another post. Your thread title is "89-99" .. so any 5th gen reader that's just skimming the group deal forum will pass right by it.

Also .. if you have some people (hopefully reputable or long-standing .org members) that have bought from you .. get them to post in the new thread .. that'll ease the fears of a lot of people.

Just doing my bit to try & save another $10
