3rd gen ADDCO Rear Sway Bar

I exchanged emails with Brian Catts from Cattman Performance, and he said he would be willing to drop the price on the bar from $129 (as listed on his site) to $100 + shipping if we can get 5 people.

Brian will handle all the orders once we have enough people, so just let me know if youre interested. Please only reply if youre serious and ready to place the order. Thanks!

For now, it is a one shot deal. Once we get 5, I'll email Brian to set up the orders. I dont know if he will be interested in running repeated group deals, though I doubt it.

I think we are good to go then, as long as no one backs out. I believe he accepts CC, but I emailed him to find out to be safe. I have also emailed the 4 who have already expressed interest. For anyone else still considering, I am planning on forwarding everyone's info to Brian tomorrow night, so let me know ASAP if you want in. Whether you are already in or want to join the deal, email me your full name and address so I can give the info to Cattman.

Thanks everyone!

As of this morning I have received 5 people's name & info. I will forward it to Brian and you can place your order. As soon as he gets 5, he will charge and ship. He told me that he does take credit card and money orders, but not paypal, unfortunately. You can reach Cattman at (800.759.9920). Ask for Lorie and mention the group deal.

Thanks everyone!

Doh! I saw "ADDCO" but skipped right over the "3rd Gen". Anyways, they are selling the 4th gen for $110 + $22 shipping.

You can take me back off the 3rd gen list....

Success!

Thanks to all those who irdered their bars last week- I called Brian and they shipped out Friday, and everyone should have received a confirmation email. Be sure to check and see if all required mounting hardware is included in the packaging- there were some reports that ADDCO had forgotten some pieces. If there is a problem, contact Brian at Cattman or ADDCO themselves.

For all others interested, Cattman Performance will continue to offer the bars for the group price of $100+ shipping for a few more weeks, so feel free to order them.

Thanks again everyone!

I just ordered the Addco Rear, and the ST Front. I got the Addco rear already, I'm waiting for the front today. Most people said this is the best setup!

Site says only if they are out of stock on the one you want. Haven't looked harder as to what the usual delivery time is, though.

I saw the ST rear listed as 3/4" & the Addco rear listed as 7/8", so it sounds about right if the most optimal setup is the ST front (1 1/4") and Addco rear (7/8").

Don't assume that because a part exists its necessary

FWIW, I recall a conversation I had with ADDCO's engineers at SEMA a couple of years ago. ADDCO makes both front and rear sway bars, but after looking at the Maxima, it was their decision that they could not improve on the front sway bar, and only designed the rear (with the intent that it work with the stock front one).

Obviously they would like to sell you both, but it was one of the few cars where they felt the stock front bar was just right.

Re: Don't assume that because a part exists its necessary

Brian with all due respect, I've tested:

1) ST front / Addco rear
2) Just addco rear
3) Just ST front

By far the worst was just the 3) ST front. Sorta saw that one coming

2) Is good, really good. The maxima really needs more bar back there.

1) Was the best of them all. The front bar really reduces the nose dive that the 3-gens have in turns and really reduces the stress the springs/shocks have to do. Plus is puts more load on the rear so it too can share some of the work. You would think the ST front would make the car really understeer again but it doesn't. This combo really kept the car near neutral or slightly front biased. That is about as good as you can do for this car w/o custom making a monster rear bar

Edit # 1) was the best of them all.

Re: Re: Don't assume that because a part exists its necessary

Oh-oh, I feel a little foolish... My mind has to shuttle back and forth between the different years of Maxima constantly and I seem to have gotten a little confused. I was thinking of the fourth gen, Maxima -- sorry about that. It was the fourth generation Max that I was discussing with ADDCO's engineers. Should have realized that, I remember thinking, gee, I didn't realize there was a FSB for the 4th gen...

Thanks for the feedback, though, I should see about picking a few of these ST fronts up so we can offer a more complete package for the 89-84.

If you could get the ST Front and ship it with the Addco rear, I'd buy it. Infact I am going to buy the addco rear from you threw Tims GD, but if you could get and ship both, that would be awesome!

I would probably do that too. Is the ADDCO rsb better than the ST rsb?

My comments are IMHO pretty valid for the 4 gens too. I think I saw a company make a front bar for the 4-gens. White Line or Progress. I'd be interested to see someone actually put one on and see.
