i went into my old shop last week and noticed this..
there is no holster for the remote, unless i missed it.. the relay box is way smaller which is definately a plus. and the wires for the remote start have a plug so you can unplug the whole unit instead of cutting the wires which is also another plus because if the relay box goes bad, replacement would be easier. this is definately a better designed alarm over the previous model. the clifford one is the same thing, and the remote is wannabe carbon fiber which loox great. the buttons are recessed in a lil bit more compared to the first gen remote so it's harder to accidently hit a button when you stuff everything in your pocket.

The holster is in there, but you have the 791s already? Or just the remote start ones?

Yes overall the product is much better and simpler for me, I actually have to go to DEI training tonight {{{{{sigh}}}}

Don, so when do you think i could come up there to have this done? Would you be able to do it on a weekend? What are your working hours on weekdays? And how long do you think the installation would take?

yah our shop has the 791s already. darn it... i guess i hafta go bak to see the holster..
i had a question tho..
you know how you can program one way remotes for the 791? can the 790 do the same? because we tried programming the one way remotes into my beta 790 and it won't work.. but we were able to program an extra two way remote into it. or do i just need to use the bit writer? i just sent mine in for an update. my roomie needs an extra remote since we have tandem parking (so he can move my car if i'm blocking him). i really don't wnat to pay for another two way remote, they aren't cheap.TIA
ps. how was training?

Only the 791s will take the second remote, the 790s were never able to, and that was the biggest complaint. Aside from the remotes not working alot of times. The Bitwriter doesnt do anything as far as programming remotes. The only thing it does in that case is Zap the system to clear everything. I actually ordered a new Bitwriter today for all the new systems, as I am still only on Ver.1.4. The new software will cover All systems including the original ESPs. And no the remotes arent cheap for the 790s, but they are dropping slightly in price.

Traning SUCKED !!!! 3.5+ hours of my time and no food ! I was there from 10 to 6 until 9:30. Free t-shirts and certificate of being "factory trained" LoL Alot of new changes though. No more Hornet line...being split between Valet and Avital. Newer Orion and PPI speakers, a bit nicer and all 3Ohm. New video screens...etc...

No pics, Don is installing the alarm (actually upgrading my 550esp to the 791Xv) as we speak. I believe the carbonfiber-looking remotes are from Clifford.

Can you explain why you are upgrading?

Upgrading to the 781Xv alerts (ie- 2 way paging) me if the alarm is set off, whereas the 550ESP is just basic (audible) alarm system with remote start function.

Does the paging really help?
I mean what is the range?
How far away can I be to get an alert?
How far away can I be to remote start the car?

I know this is debatable but does anyone have a real life answer from using this?

Can someone explain to me something
if you go to Directed's site and Look at Viper Responder and then look at Clifford.
How come they both have the same 2way remote? are they the same? what's the difference?

The site hasnt been updated. Yes the new remotes are Blue for Viper, Carbon Fiber for Clifford. The Clifford,Viper and Python units are all the same as far the older models (790,Matrix RS3 etc) The newer ones have different remotes (791,Matrix RS3.5,etc).
