Tested it today, took my drivers side over to the pass. The only difference will be that the driver and passenger front window switches are swapped. The rear are correct, but the fronts are the wrong side. Good thing about it though is the auto works for passenger like the drivers side currently does. So if you wanted you could get the plastic part from NZ and buy a drivers full switch here and swap the guts. Then you'd have LED's. Personally I'd prefer the NZ one because it has auto down on the side of the passenger. Anyway I'm going to see what we can do, anyone in for the non-LED ones now? I'd like to get em soon myself I don't mind if my passenger doesn't have lights at night oh no!

 

I'm interested in giving it a whack. Do we get an even better deal for being the first few on the block to be the "pioneers" or "guinea pigs"?

Well it looks like we can get 4 wood trim ones for $60 u.s. + $7 u.s. shipping each. Sorry shogun, we can only get the black ones from a different place, and it's almost double the price. Matt's working to see if we can get a price match or something with the other shop.

Oh and I was told that it may have LED's for passenger window and lock mechanism, but I can't guarantee it will.

Another thing is I think we can ship just the 2 (for me and max5spd) but it will cost more on shipping and bring the price up.

In the meantime, I've got 3 spots for wood-trim:

We need 2 more people for wood trim. Around $60 u.s. + $7 u.s. for shipping. This price may change by up to 15% if the border charges me duties or anything, but I will try to use some ways to get it in for free. Who else is in?

If you want the black now, I can get it for $90 u.s. shipped. Let me know, the wood trim ones are in abundance and therefore cheaper. If you want to wait, lets see if Matt can find a place that will price match to the first one ...

 

If you get LED ones in Black I am still the first in line. But they have to have LEDs as I am an **** perfectionist.

 

I don't think I'll be able to get any black ones with LEDS, as only the Cefiros come with black interior here NZ, and teh Cefiros don't have LED's on the unimportant buttons. The only buttons that don't light up are the rear passanger window buttons and the drivers side window button, the other 3 do.

One way of getting a black one with all buttons on them having lights is if you're prepared to buy that black one, and a grey one from a NZ Maxima and then switch the grey face plate with the black one. The only problem with that is you'll have to pay for 2, and only end up using one, unless I can try sell it back to a parts where house

 

Any "discounts" for buying those 2 and making one work? I really want a black one that lights up. If that other guy doesnt want to do this. I would hate to get beat up over a window switch. Be sure you throw one his way when you get one.

I have an idea. You have access to both the greys and the blacks. How about you ask your contact if he is willing to give your black top fascia and the gray bottom switch part? Let him charge some more money but it sure will beat buying two won't it?

Let me know if you can pull that one off. From what I see in your pic, it seems the switches you have are infact black. So, all you need to do is get the top plastic from a black one and replace the grey with the black. If both the switches are from NZ then its a easy swap from some posts on this thread isn't it?

Or just send me the combined price of both of them via PM and I will see if I can afford two of them.

Just making sure -- neither you 96shogunmax or dvpatel99se will join unless they have LED's in the control panel? Are you sure about that guys? It's only the bottom buttons that will not have LED, your lock LED will still be there ... I don't see it as a big deal as how often will the passenger roll down the rear windows at night anyway? Well it's your choice guys We'll see if we can find any, but so far I can see it's going to be rather expensive if you want that setup (as we'd have to buy 2 or something)

 

I will take a black one EITHER way. I dont care if it lights up.

As Shogun mentioned, get him a black one without the lights. If you do come across a supplier who will let you swap the black bezel with the grey switches holla at me. If you can get a good deal on two (a grey and a black one) holla at me.

 

Yes we will try for that dvp. What we're finding right now is that the vendor with the best price ran out of supplies before we made any decision :P So now we have to find another one with supplies and take it if it is the right price.

We're looking at that it will be around $80 u.s. for a basic black or wood trim, shipped.

Is anyone interested at that price? I know I am and next time we get such a good rate (would have been $60 u.s.) I'm jumping on it next time

That's the gist of it doh! Although the $60 ones were wood-trim so I guess you guys never lost out except for me! Doh!

It looks like $80, Matt's trying to bring the guys price down if he can since we're buying a few.

It's very hard to get there as we're relying on junkyards to have em, and the chance of it is even slimmer where they don't have a lot of them (in our colors at least) ..

But we're looking into it, there's some other possibilities, Matt's looking into it.. like perhaps just buying the plastic top part (for cheaper I hope) and we can just use the insides from the driver's side from a junkyard here (just rewire it slightly). Another option is molding it We'll see what happens, I really doubt I can generate enough interest for molding (they probably need 100+ for any decent rate is my guess), but then again if the mold is only like say $20 u.s. or something shipped or cheaper, maybe more people would buy in... I dunno..

yo i have 2 master switch and when i plug the other one into the passenger side the driver side don't work at all but when i put in the passenger side switch it works fine but both of the master switch don't together so buyer check it out first before u buy

 

You will need to re-wire the two switches so what was once the drivers side control is now the passenger side control, and vice versa. If you brought a RHD control box, you shouldn't need to do the rewiring (this isn't confirmed, but it makes sense, heh). Once the parts have been sent out, I'm sure someone here can do a write up on the steps involved

 

IMO this is kind of a waste of money.. it doesnt make much sense really, how hard is it to just push the pass side window down for 3 seconds... i mean your gona buy a used one for 100+ thats pretty damn shaty.. but just my opinion, like it matters

 

Well, first off, its not only the auto window down control that spurred this, its the ability for the passenger to lock/unlock the car with out having to reach across to do it.

As for the price, thats not in our control. The price is set by the dismantler yards.

 

When I plugged my driver's side into my passenger's side, the passenger's side was the 'auto' button, and the driver's side was the passenger side window button (it did work for mine). Perhaps you have a defective second master switch, try swapping it with the other one to see if the drivers side will work.

BTW- Thanks Matt, some people just don't understand! I guess they just aren't considerate to their spouse/other's

 

its not that im not considerate, its just a fact of lazyness, all you have to do is ask to lock the doors, or whatever, its just pointless, plus, why do they have to lock the doors? is there a reason behind this madness? IMO this is a big waste of money, i just think your running out of ideas for mods

 

This is more for, if you were to leave the car with your spouse/other inside, it is not safe (with the car running--ie/winter--need heat) to have the doors open. They lock easily for the passenger (touching the passenger door lock switch), however to re-open when you come back is the problem. A second remote won't work because your keys are in the car. So the only option is you open it with keys, or the passenger reaches over to open.

In short, this is more for spouse/other/passenger safety! I think it's a great mod for safety, and if you're considerate you may want to buy one too

No I haven't, looks like this mod isn't a simple plug-n-play one What parts didn't work? The whole control unit? Or just certain buttons?

Doh! Perhaps this isn't as simple as we thought. My guess is, having two of them creates an 'open loop' of electrical current. I will try to bring one in just for me and see what modifications are needed to make it work.
