GD: 4th Gen Passenger side power door locks/windows control panel

I'm trying to start a good deal on passenger side power door locks/windows control panel for a 4th Gen (I30/Maxima).

It should look similar to this one (but more clean and different color hehe):

Basically it's the same panel as the driver's side door lock/control panel that allows you to unlock/raise/lock the windows, except for the passenger side! Basically we're looking into shipping it in from a right-hand drive country like NZ.

People have tested their own driver's side control panels onto the passenger side and the controls work straight up with some minor technicalities (not sure what the window lock will do). I can't guarantee the fitment, but you can test your own out by hooking up your drivers side control into the passenger side and see if the controls work. Along with this supposedly you also have the one-touch feature but on the passenger side for the passenger side window.

See thread below for more details on fitment:

http://forums.maxima.org/showthread....hreadid=244468

I'm trying to get them in wood-trim, black, and beige (for beige interior?)

Not sure on price yet, still working on details and have no idea how much it'll be .. but lets see what interest we have for this original mod.

Reason for mod: Sick of passenger side not being able to unlock all doors (having to reach over), see above thread for more details!

Respond with who's interested, and what color.

We're still looking into it, it seems we have a lot of interest in this so it's worth pursuing .. There is a concern that we may only be able to get it in the style of wood-trim, and grey. Problem is that I don't think anyone here really has grey. We're trying to get beige/black. Question is, if it's not made for other colors, would you take a grey? (perhaps you could paint it or something). The price for a good condition (not new one) looks to be somewhere between $90-110 u.s. shipped. For a brand new one, it may be more in the price range of $200-300, so I really think that is out of the question .. If we can get them in good condition would you still be interested? We're working on the details still .. Will keep you guys informed, please continue to respond to who's interested even if it's for another color (we may be able to get it yet).

Thanks

If it's $100 for a USED one, I'm out. Don't need it at all. Just kind of wanted it.

It looks like I can get 1 black one, and 1 wood trim one for immediate shipment. Price approximately $90 u.s. shipped. dvpatel99se-did you want the black one? Anyone else interested? I'm told they are in excellent shape. The reason I say approximately because there is a chance they could charge me duties+taxes when it comes over. I think I may ship just 3 units (1 for me, 2 for others) this round and then I will have pictures to show y'all and you'll be jealous if you didn't receive one this round Who's in?

If you want in, leave a reply here, and also send me an email to junkman@sympatico.ca .. I'm a verified Paypal'er with a seller reputation of 64 (see junkman@sympatico.ca). My ebay rating is 113, with 100% positive, mostly selling goods. If you want in I need a 50% deposit + paypal fees (2.9% + .30).

Thanks

Since I was the first one in line for Black, I have dibs on this one. It is a little bit more than I expected but since its coming all the way from NZ I guess its gonna cost more. Infini, is there any way we can get a pic? Also, you would only need the fees if I pay by Creditcard right?

Thanks

Yes I have a cash paypal account if you're using cash/debit with no fees, junkmandiscount@sympatico.ca.

I'm trying to work on getting some pictures first. Waiting for a response from their side. I'll probably have pictures mid-week to late-week.

For now just calling dibs is ok, once we have 1 more person (someone in for a wood-trim one) I'll let you guys know to deposit.

Steve,

I just realized looking at your email address and then going and looking at your profile that you are in Canada.

I think we have more problems. You first need to find out the duties for getting the parts to Canada and then if you ship from Canada I am going to get hit with duties again. I have heard about the nightmares folks have to go thorough with the customs duties and sometimes the duties are outrageous. So, please find out if the NZ guy can ship two different packages and also did the $90 factor in the duties?

Also, what all is involved in removing the cluster from the door? Do I have to remove the door or does the panel just pop up. I know its plug and play but how do I get it off?

Thanks

It just pops out. You don't have to take the door panel off. Let me know if you need any help in doing it.

Yes I realize there may be some duties/taxes. I will try to get it through without them, however we may need an additional 5-15% for that, I will see what I can do. I will let you know once everything including price and condition and pictures are confirmed. About duties from Canada -> u.s., that should not be a problem, it's more the other way that is the problem. But I have a technique that should save you any duties/taxes so don't worry about it.

Pictures Of Units!

Hey guys! I just received pictures of the right hand side switches, they don't appear to be in perfect shape, maybe could use a little cleaning but they are decent:

Click on the picture for a bigger more detailed picture (didn't want to slow everyone down it's 300k or so):

Let me know if you still want it dvpatel, it doesn't look perfect but not that bad ...

Infini,

The switches are different too. They are not the same as my 99 or the ones you posted up in the first thread. They donot have the LED opening so I am assuming these are not illuminated. What do you think?

Yeah I think you're right, I'll ask the company if they have any others. Would it suffice without leds? I won't mind, but I do like perfection. I'll see what we can do.

Doh, I just found out that the ones from NZ do not come with LED lights. There is a few options with this situation if you really want LED's, for instance picking up a left hand side unit from someone off ebay and using those switches. The panel fascia comes apart from the switches, so you could definately do that .. Price, well, turns out I'll be able to ship from within the U.S., for the same price. Let me know Dvpatel if you want it still..

Nah. I was looking at car-part.com and it turns out there are plenty of slavage yards selling 99 switches for like $35 so compared to that $90 a little bit of too much. Then, I will still have to buy the US spec one for the top fascia. That is too expensive for this mod.

Thanks for the hard work though.

dvpatel, I understand, me and Matt-NZ have been working on it, he's working on getting it cheaper, but that's the best price so far with shipping from NZ. There is a chance we can get it for cheaper, from other suppliers but not by much. I'm estimating we can probably bring it in for around $75-80 shipped, still quite expensive without having led's etc. The reason it's more in NZ is that they have fewer cars, and all NZ cars are sold as used as they told me. (I guess they import them). Perhaps another right-hand drive country might be able to do it cheaper, any ideas?

Well, the person that told you that is not completely correct. We do import all our cars, but alot of them are brand new cars, never been used before

Sorry Matt_NZ, I meant for the Cefiro ... Here's what "City Nissan Takapuna" said:

The A32 Nissan Cefiro is a Japanese domestic market vehicle which was not released as a new vehicle in New Zealand. However there are several
privately imported vehicles on the road in New Zealand.
My mistake, I must have assumed they meant all japanese cars. Sorry.

Matt_NZ and InfiniSteve,

Thanks both for your efforts.

Infini,
I looked at my switches closely. It would not be a direct swap of the top fascia as you had mentioned. The door lock and the window lock switches are transposed in the Left Hand drive version which renders US switches pretty much useless for a top fascia swap. Unless you can replace the buttons, and probably solder some LEDs, there is no way to make the switches that are pictured to look like ours.

I had one question though. How come Matt's pic has the LEDs? Is Matts car a different spec that the supplier's switches.

Lastly, these might work for someone who does not care about the LEDs.

Hey dvpatel99se, you are correct, Matt does have LED's. We are trying some other vendors and Matt is doing a hell of a job there finding some cheaper places. We may be able to get it for a lot cheaper (~ $60-70 + shipping ($7)) .. With shipping it doesn't do a whole lot for the price, but hey it's something. Right now for that kind of price all they have is wood trim and not sure about the LED yet. Matt's looking into it along with other vendors to see if we can get some black aswell.

Beige looks to be out of the question as they don't have any beige trim in NZ. Does anyone with beige interior want to buy one and paint them? I'm not sure how good that'll look but it's an option if you do want a grey one that would be not too hard to paint.

Depends on the vendor we get. Some may be able to get the ones with LED, Matt_NZ is currently travelling to Aukland NZ and when he's there he's going to visit some places see what kind of deal we can get (and possibly take some pictures of the exact ones we'd be getting) .. If it's not LED, then we won't buy .. So hopefully we can get some LED ones.

LED = Light Emitting Diode

That's what lights up inside your switch. And yes in NZ their switches do not light up so it seems from that pic.

Well it looks like that's not exactly true (that NZ has no LED's), at least because Matt_NZ has LED's. So the first vendor is out of the question, we're awaiting news on if they can get LED ones for cheaper then I'm sure everyone will want them

shogun, you are in line behind me. I do not want it if it does not have lights. I still have dibs on a black one with lights. Thought I ought to make that clear.

Yeah thats what I meant to, I dont want it unless it lights up like my drivers side one does. So if you get any like this and get replies like if, and , maybe, but.........ill take it for sure if it lights up. Now we are all clear..

This seems to be how it works in NZ regarding LED's:
Cefiros don't seem to come with LED's on their window switches, only the window lock and central locking switches do.
NZ Maxima's do seem to come with the LED's, like mine. But, for some reason, in the South Island, their seem to be more Cefiros then Maximas, unlike up in the north where I used to live, used to only see the odd cefiro but lots of Maxima's. So, for me to find ones with LED's, I'll probably have to look in the north, instead of the south as I have been.

I went to a place in Christchurch today that had some, 2 wood panels and a black one, but all had no LED's Here's a pic of them all, a little dusty since they've been in a dusty warehouse:

Just to add on to my last post, the place I went to today said that the plastic surrouding part is removable, and said that if I did find a place that has say a black one without lighted switches, and they also have some other colour with lights, to ask the company if they'd switch the plastic part. So, I'll look into that as well

Well not really, unless you want to use the guts of a driver's side panel. I don't know what issues you may have with that along with fitment (perhaps auto button not working for passenger, etc)

Not sure shogun... You have to test out with your drivers side unit plugged in...
