2002-2003 JMS Products Inc. Grilles
So my grille and valence just arrived today and I'm sorry to say that I'm not impressed.
First, the valence is bent...badly. I'm gonna try and bend it back into shape but I don't think it'll work. I'll probably have to call them to find out about a replacement.
Second, both the grille and valence are filthy, covered in dust. No biggie, I can clean them myself, but it shows a lack of pride in their product.
Third, the rubber tubing running along the edge of the grille completely fell off (I cut my hand on the edge taking it out of the box because of the missing rubber) and it was half falling off the valence.
Fourth, the packaging is almost non-existent. The valence was wrapped in a little bubble wrap-type material but the grille was completely loose in the box. No wonder the valence got bent.
Now don't get me wrong, I still think JMS is a good company and that their grille is a good product. I just think they weren't prepared to deal with 10-15 orders placed all at once. They didn't take their time manufacturing, finishing, packaging or shipping my product and I think it's because they had SO many to do at one time. I guess it's the price I paid for getting a deal

Being one of the last ones shipped out, I must say I am a bit concerned as to what condition mine will be in when they arrive. Hopefully the fact that JMS had to wait to ship mine and a few others out due to them running out of shipping/packing material will work out in that they will use a bit more effort than unfortunately, some others have not seen with their order. I'll let you know next week.
richspidizzy: While your case seems to be unique, it's not uncommon for the grilles to get slightly bent during shipping. For every time I have received a package with a grille, they have been damaged. This is not only from JMS Products, but also from CustomMaxima, Street Scenes, and Trendz. I'm not sure why, but unless the grilles are packaged in styrofoam, they tend to get damaged.
As far as the cleaning, I waited until it was installed on the car. The grille cleans back up to perfection with soap and water. I'm not sure why it was dirty when it arrived, but mine don't normally arrive dirty (other than the dust from the packaging).
JMS stands behind their products 100%, so if you are not satisfied, give them a call.

Well, I got mine today. It looks like JMS got someone elses address mixed up with mine, my name but totally different state. Then there is another tag with my name and my address but instead of 120th St., it has 20th St. I'm just lucky people are honest and FedEx was smart enough to find my house anyway. Looks pretty good, slightly bent but I think it will straighten out when it is installed. As long as it keeps the brushed aluminum look and does not rust, I will be happy. Thanks again studman for getting this group deal done.

Thanks for the compliments. Your Merlot Max was my inspiration. Your pics and detailed descriptions were of great help to me. Plus a good detailing job with Klasse really made the Merlot color stand out. Reference the grills, I have the Grille Techs, but if the JMS look better and are more durable, I will definitely buy them.

Well, here it is Thursday and no grilles yet. Just spoke with JMS/Jay and all orders have been sent out. If you haven't received yours yet, you should in the next day or so (I'm hoping). I for one am anxious to see what these look like, so guys post some pics once you get yours installed.
I asked Jay if he could send my tracking number to my email as soon as my grill ships, and he said sure, no problem. My grill was supposed to be sent Monday, but I haven't got an email from him yet. I'm kinda ****ed as of this moment. First, the long wait and then the poor packing.

Yeah, I don't think they have a great operation over there. They may make a great looking product, but they definately don't follow thru w/ cust service. I know I left them my phone number twice for them to call me if there were any problems w/ my order. Of course, there was a problem, but I never got a call.

Ok guys, I got my grille from JMS. Couple of things about the grille. The grille looks pretty good in the brushed aluminum. It comes with a rubber tubing that goes around the outside of the grille to protect your paint from scratches. However, the rubber tubing doesn't stay in place well enough. It comes off the edges of the grille too easily. When I opened the shipping box, the grille was bent a little bit. I don't know if this was from the shipping or if it was shipped like that.
So, I removed my front licence plate to begin installing the grille. Btw, I only ordered the lower 1/2" grille. So, I slide it into place...and the damn thing doesn't fit very well at all. The passenger side of the grille slides in ok, but the driver's side is so tight, it won't slide in. At this point, after several tries, I decided to give up for a while and try again tomorrow.
I'm disappointed that I paid almost $70 and will have to do some work just to get it to fit properly. I think instead of the rubber tubing that comes with the grille, I may go and get some kind of tape and tape the edges up. This should help with the fitment of it and prevent scratches just the same. I think it'll look great on my black Max, but I guess I was an idiot for thinking that it would just slide in without any problems.
Anyway, let me know how you guys do when you get your grille.
Good luck

I received my JMS (upper) grille today. The packaging was pretty good, not like what others have said. I dont think the grille is bent, but I have a bad feeling that I'm going to have a hard time installing it (fitment issues). Does anyone have a write-up to install this thing?

just got mine tody. The box looks like it went through a grinder, but the grille looks intact. The lower looks a little bent out of shape, hopefully it is not to bad. I will hopefully put it on this weekend. I'll take some pics.
thanks again STUDMAN.

Going to try and install the lower tomorrow. I'll take pics if I am happy with how it turns out.

If you get it installed, let us know if you have any tips or suggestions for the install. Thanks.
Followup on GD.
Very pleased with the grill, definitely creates a classier/sportier look without being rice. Installed the 1/2" diamond top and bottom.
Steps to install:
1) Grill removal is a snap. Remove the little black plugs directly above and below the grill in order to have good access to the backside of the grill by sliding your hand in. Only three screws to remove to pop the old grill out.
2) Get a tube of superglue and permanently attach the rubber tubing to the grill all the way along the bottom of both pieces. Trim off any excess rubber tubing and make sure it is tight and firm.
3) The top grill fits well, although I would recommend getting a roll of silver 18-20 gauge picture hanging wire and using this instead of the zip ties. Simply twist the free ends together and fold over. Especially on a silver car, this to my eye, looks better than the zip ties. If you need to use the zip ties, you may attach two of them together to make one big loop. I found that there were enough ties to do it this way if you want, although if/when I replace the horn, I will probably redo the whole thing with silver wire.
4) Top grill fit was not an issue for me. The bottom grill fits acceptably, but only after proper bending. The trick is to do step #2 so that you can slide the bottom piece in and out without scratching the heck out of your paint while you tweak the bends.

Pics follow...
Sorry, these pics were before I bought the wire to tighten the grill down and so there is a visible gap in the top grill along the bottom, before I tightened it down. It looks better now, and actually didn't look as bad in person.
Oh yeah, and the license plate is straight now.

I would take fresh pics, but it's dark outside and I'm lazy. And no I wasn't shopping at Albertsons, still haven't crossed the picket line.
