Just to give a heads up, I found this link for $445 shipped for the set. I've never heard anything about this place, so if anyone orders let us know how it works out.

I think this backs up what I'd been saying about supply issues... after June 15 seems to be when everyone is getting these back in stock. The Illumina kits (struts/shocks/springs) are still scarce though. I bet there's still an issue with the Tokico springs.

From Scott's post long ago...
"\--------/~ 95-99 Only~\-------/

Tokico Illumina/HP Strut and Spring Suspension Kits/Packages:
1) Illumina Complete Set + Tokico Springs Set - $560.00 Shipped*
2) HP Complete Set + Tokico Spring Set - $445.00 Shipped*

Tokico Springs lower 1.5" in the Front and 1.2" in the rear. (+/-) "

Hmmmm.... Not sure if I'm happy about this. Part number on the "Tokico" springs are VDF VA 952143 and VDF HA 952144 which would make them Vogtland springs. Custom Maxima told me the springs in their Illumina kit are made by Intrax for Tokico.

Thoughts anyone???

This was my email to Scott:
Which springs come with the Tokico package? The red or the silver? I need to know because there is a difference in drop. Please answer soon. Thanks, Corey

Reply:How are you? The Silver Springs, which are designed by Tokico for Tokico Struts.

The Red and Silver are both made by Vogtland. The Red Struts are a Sport Spring made by Vogtland for the Maxima.

Ok...
I have this sorted out.
Vogtland.... NOT Intrax as I had been led to believe... make the springs for Tokico. The same spring is sold under the Vogtland label as well. I'd imagine its the same spring Custom Maxima has in their Illumina kit as well.
They all are the same material, manufacturing process, finish (except for color), and spring rate.
The GD leads you to believe they are different springs because of the difference in drop Scott quoted.

2 Questions anyone
How long did your install take you?
Did you use adjustable camber bolts?

Volkl77,

took just under 2hrs (at a shop) and did not use Camber plates with H&Rs. I remember reading, if you go lower than 2", then you'll need the Camber bolts.

Well... 5 hours or so with a few breaks for mosquito swatting and it was done. In the drive, all hand tools. Alignment is a mess, but I'd figured it would be. I'll get some Ingalls camber bolts just to let me tweak the settings a little.

more to come...

I'm ready to order as well but it seems like its the luck of the draw on whether you'll get your item in a timely fashion or not.

If you want an Illumina setup... you are going to have to track them down. Lots of places will say they carry them, few will actually have stock right now. Its a hot item and there's been supply issues for both the struts and shocks and the Tokico springs. The supply is getting better, but I doubt you'll find springs until after mid July.

If you want to order from the guy who supplied this GD email him, and go from there. Expect a wait time jdmwerks@earthlink.net

The GD pricing is a killer deal. It's $40 under what Custom Maxima charges with your Maxima.org discount, AND its shipping included. In my case thats about another $60 for UPS ground.

Cheers!

I already e-mailed them on friday and still have gotten no response. I only want the struts since i already have H&R springs installed. I understand the saving money factor but the apparent waiting time just for an e-mail response is making me weary of dishing money out and waiting for my product.

This price is a killer deal... I wanted to give my business to people I knew from the .org and this price was either at or below their cost. I ordered mine from toyhookup on ebay... sent out the money order last week and hopefully I get a tracking number tonight or tomorrow. BTW, if you order from this guy the auction for the Infiniti I-30 comes out cheaper with shipping than the Maxima.

so is this a dead GD? I tried e-mailing Jdm about the group deal price and haven't gotten an answer yet. Something tells me if I buy them off ebay from them (at a higher price) that my e-mails might get answered a little faster.
