Ok... I don't get it... at $379 from Courtesy who needs a GD!!!! I just came across some email from July 2002 when I was first considering this mod. At the time this was a "great" GD and the ONLY way to get one of these little preciousesssss!!!

"""No problem...I'm glad to answer any question you might have. The way that it works is he orders it once he gets the money. So, it is about a 4-5 week wait to get the VI to you from when you send the payment he gets the part in about 3 weeks and then he ships it EMS (3-5 days) or sea frieght (25-35 days). He insures everything so if you are missing something or it is damaged he can replace it. The are all new parts.

MO and check,
VI: $550
VI and Cover: $620

Pay Pal have to add like 2.9% to that
VI: $566
VI and Cover: $638

That is shipped EMS
Subtract about $70 dollars if you want it by sea.

But that is with our current exchange rate."""

Add to that the extra install parts and you're getting well over $800. Something to think about!

what you may not realize is that some of the past group deal starters were making a small profit from the sales of the items. IF THIS TAKES OFF I WILL MAKE $0 from this!!! and thats the way i want to keep it. now if im wrong about the previous statement someone with first hand knowledge please correct me and i will retract my statement.

I'm sure you are correct to some extent that someone made money on that old deal ... The point I was trying to get across was that this thing has become far cheaper to aquire than before. Two years ago they came on a slow boat from china...errrr..japan , and the shipping costs (transport, documentation, bonding?,customs, duties,e tc) were a huge part of the price. I'm not sure how the distribution system for Nissan parts works now, but someone has to be adding these to a regular parts order from Japan, therefore the cost per unit is minimal.

All that said, if you can put this together at a better price than Courtesy offers then that would be a wonderful thing! If you can do it with all the extra bits needed to make this thing go...then my hat is off to you.

Cheers!

Have you look at the past post on this tread.
Where 8maxblackwind said he is trying to get all the parts for MEVI (not just what courtesy gives) for a price equal if not below what courtesy has.

Something for you to think about, not us. If you'd have graduated 2nd grade you would've read that the $560 was a complete kit. No other hardware necessary, I think that even the RPM switch was provided(not sure). Now it's $430 and add another $150 or so for the extra parts and you come out to about the same price.

Hmmmm...
Something for you to think about....
If you'd have read my ENTIRE post, not just look at the pictures, you'd have seen that it was refering to what was available TWO years ago.
That kit was the same as what you would get from Courtesy today, it would have cost you $620 and you would have still needed the extra $100 - $200 (depending on what you use and where you get it) in parts required to complete the install.
The point of the whole thing was that the MEVI is far less expensive a modification than it has been in the past.
I have also said that if 98maxblackwind can pull this together complete with all the extra parts at a $ less than Courtesy is asking, then I applaud the effort.

Nuf said.....

...except the MEVI beside my desk is waiting for a JWT ECU.

bump...
For those who are new to this tread. let me explain what it is, in one sentence.

This is a group deal we are trying to get (as the title says) of a complete MEVI for our 4th gen maximas. as of right now we are waiting on 98maxblackwind connections to get the complete MEVI for something around $400-550 (correct me if I'm wrong) and probably there will be no instalation isntructions. If you search on the forum you can find good instalations.

Thank You
and welcome All new commers.

Here is a list of parts you can use to install a MEVI. Obviously some are duplications with different part #s. With the non specific parts like hose and wire, better to have plenty than run short in the middle of your install.

Cheers!

Gaskets
14722-38u02 or 14120-38U02- EGR tube gasket - $3
23785-ad100 - IAC gasket - $1
16175-31u01 - TB gasket - $3
14032-38u00 - intake manifold gasket - included with MEVI kit, but you may want a spare in case you over torque and smush ( yep "smush" is a technical term) your gasket. - $10

Vacuum Switch
14958-27m00 or 14956-35410 - vacuum solenoid switch - $70 Ouch!
GM Solenoid Part # 1997152 - $12
MAP/Baro/Vacuum Solenoid from a 87-89 Pulsar or 3rd Gen Maxima and many other late model cars

Vacuum Tank
14958-v6700 - check valve - $12.48
22372-v6700 - vacuum canister - $30
22370-2Y500 - Vacuum Canister /w Check Valve - $22 Order from Jerry Rome Nissan 413-746-2617
NAPA vacuum canister with built in check valve - $11

RPM Switch
Summit Racing RPM Switch Part #SUM-830449 - $45
Harlan RPM Switch - $50

Misc. Parts
Vacuum line in various sizes $5 - $10
Wire - in various colors if you like. - $10
Wire Loom - if you want a tidy install - $5
Inline Fuse
Vacuum "T" or "F" - depending where you pull your vacuum source - $1
30amp Relay - $5
Gasket Sealer - I've read where people have used it, but it you prep the mating surfaces correctly, and torque fasteners to spec, it shouldn't be needed.
Wire Taps, Connectors, Etc.

The mod is not for me, 99's dont have ECU's to get the full benefit. But don't get me wrong, the top end with an MEVI is great even without the ECU. I just don't use the mod enough to get the money's worth. If you have an ECU, GET THIS MOD!!!
