Intro pricing/GD on Lower Tie Bars for 89-03

Well, after months of waiting around for guinea pigs and test-fitting, they're finally ready to go!

5th gen bar:

4th gen bar: (obviously unpainted- just wanted to get a couple pics before it was done)

3rd Gen bar:

I also have them done for B14s if anyone wants one for them:

a few more pics of the 5th gen bar installed here:
http://www.mattblehm.com/HSS_images/...r/5th_Gen_LTB/
This is on Matt Luquire's 5th gen with Eibachs, and he's got about 3.5" of ground clearance at the lowest point. That should give the rest of you guys an idea on ground clearance. It's only about 1" lower than Matt's Y pipe, so there is plenty of room for OEM or aftermarket exhaust. (the aftermarket Ys are actually much smaller due to the lack of precats, but I've test-fitted on both stock and aftermarket exhaust)

Regular price on these is $125+ ship, but I'll be doing intro/GD pricing on them for $100+ shipping on all models until next Friday May 7.

for any more info and contact stuff, head to my crappy website: www.mattblehm.com

Your right its going to help with handling. The brace is suppose to stiffen the underside of the Max for less flexing and movements in the frame.

Do you know if there is any clearance problems w/ the Cattman Headers? Also, what are they made of? How much would it be shipped to Hawaii(96795)?

Thanks,
Jonathan

Install is very easy.. you'll need a 19,22,24 (don't remember which one), and a 27mm socket.

remove the two nuts and washers on the front of the control arms, stick the bar on there, tilt it up and you'll see which other two bolts in back need removed. pull those off, put the bar in place, tighten down the rear bolts, get the nuts in the front started (but don't tighten them yet!)

drop the car to the ground, THEN tighten the nuts on the front of the control arm, and you're done. it's about a 15 minute install. very quick and easy, just takes some tools that are bigger than your average socket.

Most of your other questions so far can be answered by the replies on the thread in the general forum as well.
http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?t=306356

Luquire has posted a link to his original review on it about 15 posts down on the first page.

Honestly, I can't make any guarantees on the cattman headers- there's not too many cars with them, so unless someone is willing to try one on their car and post some feedback, I can't say for certain.
If you can send me some pics of various angles under the car, I may be able to tell you more.

Since Hawaii can only go 1 or 2-day air through UPS, shipping will be $50 for 2nd day UPS. US Postal priority mail will be $30.. (regular mail is only $3 less and takes weeks instead of days...)

It MIGHT fit under the headers.. it'll be very close on 5 gens, but I can't remember much on 4th gens- it's been a while since I've seen it on the car. I'll have to have D_warner send me some more pics of it on the car before I can say much about it.

It won't be a problem fitting under a Y pipe though. The aftermarket Y pipes on 5 gens is actually smaller than the OE, because the OE has that huge precat on the bottom of the engine.

Shipping will be a fixed $15 to anywhere in the main 48. you know the deal otherwise.

hey matt...thx for introducing a new suspension mod to the 4th gen. it's about time for us to get something new.

btw do you happen to have any reviews on stage 1 lower tie-bar? how big of differnece is this from stage 2? i am thinking about stage 1 cuz i don't drive my car too hard, but i do wanna overcome the oversteering problem with my RSB. are you gonna do a GD on stage 1 as well? also what color of finish you have for stage 1?

thx again

Currently the finish is just spray paint, but I'm trying to get a powdercoating system and a zinc plater to make some parts with a more durable finish..
Colors I keep on hand are black and red. If you'd like something different, I'll be glad to leave it primered or bare metal if you wish.

How to pay? I take check, money order, paypal, etc. my paypal account is sales@mattblehm.com .. just tell me what the $$ is for- what car and color you want..
If you want my mailing address for check or money order, please email me at the sales@mattblehm.com address and I'll get back to you ASAP.

I'm a bit confused?? Just to clarify, this goes in the front/mid part of the car. Before the transmission?? Also, how much more stiff would it make the car if you already have a front strut bar?

Do you think the lower Tie bar will fit w/ Cattman headers or not? Sorry bout the link earlier, it should be up and running now.

808, I dunno.. It's going to be close.
speedymax, a 5th gen with Eibachs has 3.5" of ground clearance. I haven't gotten any measurements on 4th gens for ground clearance, but it's going to be similar.
If you know what the Eibachs drop on a 5th gen is, you can compare it to the drop on the Teins.

I would feel it's pretty safe to say that you won't have any problems if you drive like a sane person. My 3rd Gen is lowered over 3", and I have very little ground clearance (roughly 3"), yet I've only scraped it three times in the 6 months I've had it on my car.

So it's your call.. ground clearance problems are a product of your driving habits, the car, and the streets you drive on.

Shipping will be $15 for UPS ground, anywhere in the main 48.

Warranty? If it's defective (broken weld, improper fittment, etc) we'll talk and reach a gentleman's agreement on a course of action.

If you scrape or bottom out and FUBAR your car, the ground or the bar--that's not an issue that I will be responsible for.

If you drive around purposely decapitating squirrels and opossums and you send it back covered in brains, then I reserve the right to pretend I have no clue what the object in the box is.

I'm very interested, but I have a question:

I was planning on eventually getting the WSP subframe connectors. Would this lower tie bar (for 4th gen) complement (i.e., not get in the way of) subframe connectors or would it preclude installing the SFCs? If it's either lower tie bar or SFCs I think I'd rather get the SFCs since they'd do more to stiffen the frame.

If I'm not mistaken, take a look at the pics of his car, it looks like he has subframe connectors.

Matt, if I ordered two (one for a friend), how much of a shipping discount could you give me? I'm also interested in the 4th-gen grounding kit...can we make this a package deal?

EDIT: might even have a third person interested here, so shipping three to the same address. Could we get a group deal within the group deal?

The subframes and Lower tie bar are compliments. the subframes are a weld-on only and attach to the frame almost a foot behind where my lower tie bar attaches.

SFCs= weld on in the back
LTB= bolt on in the front.

Masaccio, when you get the total number of pieces, parts, etc put together, shoot me an email (sales@mattblehm.com) and let me know what you're in for, and we'll work out something you'll be happy with.

Matt (you are the maxima god)..

question, what type of 'stress' would this cause (if any) on the 4 bolts holding the Lower Tie bar down? Mainly concerned at the long term use of having a LTB.. I see great positive changes with it. Just wondering if the bolts would be something negative to this equation.

(i'm still getting one though.!!)

Thanks,

considering those bolts are the same ones that are already holding the control arms onto the car, or the subframe to the chassis... They're already pretty beefy and doing this job already- I'm just strengthening the parts that mount between them. the front control arm bolts are 18mm diameter- VERY stout. the ones on the back are not quite as large, but they're more than beefy enough. they're 12 or 14mm bolts. (I'm talking bolt diameter, not socket size)..

don't woryr about that issue.. I wouldn't attach them to a bolt that's going to fail. the bar will fail before it damages one of those bolts.
