Who would be interested in a GD on Passport 8500 radar detector?

The price of these radar detectors would be less than the $300 asked at Best Buy. Right now i'm trying to work out a deal to see how much under $300 these radar detectors will be. These of course will be brand new units. Right now I'm just gauging the interest in these things to see if this GD would be worth the time and effort.

This is for the newer model Passport 8500. The "X50" which has 50% better detection range on K-Band and Ka Band radars with a selectable "POP" mode radar detection. This model also is immune to the VG-2 "Detector-Detector" feature. And it can also be linked to the Laser Shifter ZR3. But as I said, i'll be looking to getting the prices on these things as low as possible. I don't want to quote a price on these until I get a good idea of how many people want these.

These radar detectors will come with a 6 month warranty from me as long as there isn't any physical damage done to the unit. This means that I will replace them free of charge once sent to me if there are any problems with the unit in how it functions. These units are brand new and still in the box. That 6 month warranty is separate from the manufactures warranty offered on these units. I'm looking for at least 30 people who are serious about this deal. Right now i'm looking at getting the unit alone for $250.00 That is the lowest price that you will find anywhere for this unit. Ebay sellers are selling them without a warranty and you still have to fork up sales tax and shipping fees once it is all said and done. That price of $250.00 can easily drop with more buyers on this first wave of radar detectors. Once I get an accurate number of serious buyers willing to pay, I will do the final calculations as to how far I can get the price down which will include shipping as well.

I am conducting this deal not to make much of a profit but to get you guys a product that a lot of you need and that a lot of you guys want. I need one and I feel that if I know of a place to get a good deal, why not share the info. My supplier has well over 300 units in stock. So I would like to do this in one shot if possible. If you can get a better deal on these, let me know and i'll take this thread off and i'll get on your list. But I hope this deal once put together can benefit everyone involved.

From one study that I read, the Passport 8500 X50 was better than the V1, just because it had the ability to add a a Laser Shifter. Other than that, both units are very close in all tests administered. Both units have be head and shoulders above the competition for some years now with the technology on the Passport getting better with their new model. There is roughly about a $100 price difference between the two units with the V1 costing more between the two.

Yes, s/h will be included once the final price is given. As stated before, to me this is a no brainer if you're in search of a radar detector. I want to get as many people on the first shipment as possible. The price might not be as low the second time around unless I can get a good turnout. But my supplier has well over 300 in stock. And the more that are purchased at once, the beter the price for everyone. Once I get the final tally of people interested I will post a price. This GD is going to happen folks. So all I need is for you guys to be prepared once I set the price which will include shipping.

That's fine...this is going on until I get at least 30 people signed up. With that type of turn out. The price will dip below the 265 range w/shipping included if not more. The more people buying the lower the price. That's why I want to get a nice sized list before sending for these and giving an actual price. My supplier has well over 400 of them in stock. So I want to get the best deal possible for us.

My supplier has both blue and red display units with the blue display units costing $30 more. Both units are equal in performance, just a difference in color put out by the unit. He has a limited amount of blue display units.

The blue display will be $30 more than the red display units. Both units as stated before are equal in performance. He doesn't have the ZR3 laser shifters yet. But he's working on that as we speak.

Ok..sounds good. I have a couple of questions though. What is the warranty on these? Will Escort warranty the detector? Could we purchase and additional extended warranty through Escort? I hope this will go through..and get more people. If we can get this for $250 shipped, this would be an ok deal. I've checked out the motorcycle forums, the R1-forums, and some dude on there had the same deal..he only needed 12 people to get this deal.

http://r1-forum.com/forums/showthrea...0&pagenumber=5

I'm not saying anything bad about this deal. I'm in on this but if we get 20 people, we should be getting it less that $250. Thats just my .02

The deal on the R-1 forum is a pretty good one. The free shipping really isn't free. Instead, the shipping for the product is applied to the cost of the unit. I'm trying to see how low I can get the prices on these things. The reason "12" is brought up so many times in the thread is because that's how many are containted in one batch. I would like toonfirm more than one batch so that the price on these as you stated can be lower than that of the R-! forum. 24 confirmed purchases would be nice, 36 confirmed purchases would be better while 48 confirmed purchases could drop the price on these way below the $250 mark for the red display units. How far is the question, but either way, everyone benefits in that situation. Thanks Andrew for letting me see what other offers are out there and what other whole sellers/retailers are letting their Passport 8500 X50's go for.

Kwamdoo,
I see where you are going with these group deals. I'm glad you're doing it because I've tried many times to get one going and I've gotten NO replies. Plus It may seem that I'm trying to be a cheap bastard about this but I'm looking for the best deal out there. I appreciate what you're doing here. As a consumer, I'm just shopping around! Thanks again man.

Andy

P.s. Guys/Gals...lets get 36 purchases or more. I want to see what kind of price we can get. hehehe

Trust me when I say this, if you want the best protection, go with a V1. You can use the laser shifter with it too (it just wont be linked together). Should you search the .org (and not websites written by the device manufacturer) you will clearly see that people who have V1's have them for a reason. They are bar none the best.

If you want decent protection, then go ahead with the 8500 X50. Not trying to knock anyones thread, just making sure the facts are clear.

Looking at the sell, and the model number X50 isn't mentioned anywhere unless I overlooked it. Thanks for keeping an eye out on the prices.

The V1 and Passport 8500 debate has been going on for awhile. But from studies and what people have said, the V1 is a better detector. By how much, not by alot. I would love to se a group deal with the new upgraded V1's, but no one has been able to do it. The difference in price between the two is prettty big and some guys on here are looking for the best of both worlds (price and performance) without having to spend more money than needed and still feeling confident in the product that they have. And remember, a radar detector can only do so much. You still have to drive being aware and not expecting the unit to do all the work for you. But to each his own.

Hey man, first of all, I want to say that we need people like you here on the ORG. You sound like a stand up guy . You definitely know what you are doing. We look forward to more of your GD offers in the future.

There is this online vendor, sbhcorp.com that I found while looking around. They are selling the X50 red ones for $250 shipped (+tax in NY). I just mentioned that I am from Maxima.org and he told me the best he can do is $245 shipped for 10 orders. Can you do better than him?

Also, do you have a store or a website? You said the detectors sold on Ebay don't have warranty... what makes you different from Ebay sellers. Just wondering...

Hey man, thanks for the compliment. This is my first time conducting a GD, and i've had my experiences with purchasing from people online. Some good, some bad. The response time for most sellers is poor. That's why I try to answer the questions as soon as possible once posted. People spend and send their hard earned money to total strangers, so I think the least we as sellers can do is be as quick with our responses as possible. The difference between myself and the ebay sellers is that you can send the unit back to me and i'll go through the hassle of exchanging them for the first 6 months of you owning it only if there is problem with the way the unit performs. Any type of physcial damage done to the unit doesn't count only issues that deal with the performace of the unit. So if you dro pthe unit or pour coffee on the unit, that doesn't count. But if you take the unit out of the box and it is not functioning correctly, i'll get a new one to you.

Thanks again guys for looking into GD. I will see how many more of you want this unit but the price for 12 is $240 shipped (red display). I might be able to get it lower but we are looking at $240. All people initially interested in this deal don't have to express their intentions again. I have your names recorded and they will be placed in a new thread that will be posted no later than Thursday. I will leave information in the thread about where to send the money. I will have both a paypal account as well as a physical address that you can send the money to. Units won't be sent out until the 12th (last) person gets their money to me. So please, only serious buyers reply. In turn this speeds up the process so that everyone gets their unit ASAP. Thanks again guys for being patient with me.

P.S. The blue display models are $270 shipped.

I'm already at $240 shipped. Hopefully we can get it lower with more people jumping on to the GD. Thanks for your interest and for keeping an eye out on other deals online. THe blue ones might be at their lowest price, but i'm still working on them.

P.S. With the deal that you mentioned. It is an additional $15.00 for shipping. Bringing the the overall price to $265.
