Well your alt. will generate less amps at idle then with the stock pulley... but when your driving you shouldnt notice a difference...

Unless your drawing a very large ammount of current... maybe 60+ amps constant I wouldnt worry

does this pulley have any fitment issues or does it make the belts squeal after you install it?

As I said earlier... We have these CNC machined to exact OEM specs as far as fitment is concerned. It will not be loose and easy to get on, it will fit perfect, snug and solid, just the stock Pulley is designed to be.

As far as belt noise, I have yet to hear of that problem.

David Warner did a writeup of this pulley and gave it great reviews. It might be on fastmaximas.com

Tyler, I am definatly interested in getting this. Although a complete set of all the pullys would be very nice.

Can you give us a definate date by which we would still be good to order? I want to order but want to wait a week or so for my next paycheck

And for people with systems, yes this pully will turn ur alternator slower than the orignal pulley therefor generate less current at idle. So i would not recommend you to turn on the system with car at idle. If you do, u will kill ur expensive *** amplifier prematurely.

On the first page, I asked for the weight and the size of the pully. Seems like my request went unnoticed. I would still like to find out what percentage underdrive is this pully and how much the weight savings are. I think these are valid questions and must be answered before anyone sends their money in.

For a more complete understanding of how the underdrive pully affects your alternator, please visit Motorvate.ca

Thanks,

Jasmeet

i dont like that much. not having the system on at idle wont be easy to do. what is one supposed to do? turn off the stereo at each stop light??

I do not have an amp with my system now. I just got a new head unit and all new speakers. Will it make a difference with the alternator? Will this also affect starts, heat and ac while car is warming up or sitting in park idling? I also suppose it won't be a good idea to get an amp for the speakers and to get subs?

Using a high-current amplifier with a UDP is not really a good idea. But we are all guessing because we dont know the dimensions of this pully. If we know what size it is we can figure out how much slower the alternator is turning. I still cant figure out what the hell is the problem with giving us the specs. There is no point in changing to this pulley if it doesnt offer any gians. I am suspecious because they say they have corrected all known problems. SO i want to know the size/weight of this pulley as compared to the stock pulley. I dont know why people are spending all their money without knowing any of the details.

Yes, Im sure the AC is impacted as well. Dont know how much tho. THink about it, smaller UDP = slower turning alternator and AC compressor. Slow alternator = lower current and slow AC compressor means lower amount of freon getting cycled which obviously means that at Idle, your AC might not perform as good as it would at higher rpms..

Tylor, I would appreciate it if you would post the data whenever u get it please. Thanks!

Don't have the EXACT measurements but the outer ring is around 12cm and the inner ring is about 9.5cm. Weight is 24.8oz, stock is about 5lbs.

Plan to get mine installed this weekend. Took 3 days to receive in mail.

Hope this helps.

The installation is really straight forward and I believe a write up can be found on vqpower.com either way we include the instructions along with the pulley.

I'm most of the way through installing it, I just need to torque down the crankshaft bolt and install the new belts. Even though they said on page 1 of this thread that there were no fitment issues, their instructions that they include with the pulley say you may have to bore out the center hole of the pulley to make it fit. This was the only real problem I've encountered so far, it wouldn't fit onto the crank snout until I wet sanded the center hole a bit. The only other difficult parts are torquing the crank bolt and dealing with the power steering belt, but you'll have those problems with any pulley.

UPDATE: I can't find any way to get the Gates size K060408 belt on. You might be able to, but save yourself the hassle and get the K060410 instead. Right now I'm looking for a way to get to the store and get this belt, which is kind of difficult when you don't have a working car.
