On the issue of Clamping Force... while SPEC stage 1 shows more torque clamping than the 2000's engine produces, don't clamping demands rise as vehicle speed rises?
(e.g. at 135MPH, if you can't go any further, your clutch has to endure 2 times the amount of engine torque... 217 ft/lbs from the engine and 217 ft/lbs from the drivetrain due to aerodynamic drag)
Is this a correct concern?

if its just little bolt ons, go with a stage 1. if you plan on spraying, turbocharging or supercharging go with either a stage 2 or 3.
