Yeah I need a full set but what kind of price are we lookin at? How do you get discounts (and how much of a discount is it?) just curious, I have a friend that works at a nissan dealership and I wasn't sure of the employee discount I haven't asked him yet.

will 2000 coils work in a 2001? THAT is the question...

I hope this helps. I know a lot of people "assume" 2000 and up are the same.
Now, I don't know if they will "work" in 2001 - 2003. I highly doubt it. I sure would not want to experiment with that.

I have an 01.... I know for the most part 2000 and 2001 Maximas are identical, w/the exception of the exhaust I believe cali spec vs fed spec. I bought coils from you (nissanfanatic) on ebay, the Gray Dot ones and I changed all of them out since I wasnt sure which coil was bad. It didnt work.... still could'nt rev past 2500 rpm and had a rough idle. I'm pretty sure its because of the coils because, I had the car running fine w/the 2001 coils a few days before until one coil blew again... unless ones of the new coils was bad also. I can try it again but it does not seem like the Gray Dot (2000) coils will work in a 2001. Has anyone else tried the Gray Dot coils in an 01 w/success? If so, It may be something else. We need to find this out.... its important.

Put me on the list too. I need new coils for my 2000, as I am tired of the Check Engine light going on and off. I only need RHs but if I am going thru the expense and trouble I'll do all 6.
With all the computers in a Max you think they could tell me which coil is misfiring (as it only does it once in a while, just enough to keep the light on) instead of just which bank seems to have an emission problem and make me guess about the coils.

To answer my own question, 2000 Gray Dot coils, will work in a 2001 just fine. I know because I tried it and it worked great. It turns out the problem I was having was withe the MAF.... for whoever cares..

Used Coils
I have several sets of used coils for the front (or left) bank of cylinders for both the 4th gen (95-99) and 5th gen (00-01) engines.
To answer questions that are sure to come:
1. No, I don't have any for the rear (or right) bank for either gen;
2. Where did they come from?? Last year I sourced several 5th gen 00VI systems to re-sell on the org, and with each also got the full set of coils. The rear coils (along with the rear valve covers) were sold as part of the 00VI setup. That left me with several sets of fronts. All of these came from salvage yards out of engines that had been in cars that were totaled. Thus, although I've not tested them and can offer no guarantees, I feel there's a high degree a certainty that they will work fine. I used 3 rears in my own 4th gen engine when I did the 00VI modification, and that's been about a year now with no problem. I also used 3 of the fronts when I switched over to a 5th gen front valve cover, and again, no problems. And no, I didn't cherry-pick or keep switching them until I found ones that worked. These are all OEM made by Hanshin, and have part number 22448-2Y005 stamped on them.
I have 4 sets of the 5th gen fronts, plus one set of the 4th gen fronts (which came out of my own engine and were working just fine). The price is $50 per set of 3, shipped - or best offer. That's considerably less than a single new coil's going to cost you unless someone puts together a hell-of-a group deal.

Nissan is not using Mitsu for these numbers.

yeah, buut the hanshins are the originals of the 99 that go bad...isn't there a different brand we can use that might be better. Look, i'm not complaining but want to make sure they don't screw up. Also I have a question, if i have a 95 with the mitsu's(200000kms) and put them on my 99 and put the new hanshins on the 95, am I loosing out? I think so, but not too sure. I mean quality wise. My 95 still runs much stronger then my 99 right now
Thanks

I can not help with your question.
Nissan has not used Mitsubishi as a supplier for over a year on that part. It is not that Nissan feels 1 is better than the other, that seems to be the members of the forums opinion, which is fine.
Hopefully someone ill come along that can help answer your question.
