I am looking for one for my 5th gen Molded Real Aluminum to replace the sorry *** one I got from CustomMaxima once they changed vendors, hopefully you do not use the same company. How hard is it to take the old one off, does anyone know? Thank.

 

^^^yea, it can be a pain. just use a heat gun( or hair dryer) and pull slowly.

I bought that one of off ebay and threw it out. The cutouts for all the buttons were too big and it was a b**** to put on.

 

well so is this one, just installed it yesterday and most of the pieces were 1/8" short

You said that if I'm not satisfied for any reason, I get a refund. You saw in the photos how bad the pieces were cut.

I know they have them, but CM sell they way over priced!

 

It is not real metal, their supplier uses the same foil veneer as almost all other companies who claim to sell a real aluminum kit. The surface is real aluminum, but it is the thickness of aluminum foil, and then it is backed w/ plastic, then tape. Comparable in look to brushed aluminum vinyl. We've cut apart several kits from companies claiming to sell real aluminum dash kits. Some of the kits are covered in resin like CF kits, the better ones don't have the resin, but it's still not real metal.

The easiest way is to get a sample and see for yourself. If it doesn't feel like metal, it's not metal. Real metal has an edge to it, and upon touching it, it feels real. The plastic kits feel like plastic, even if they may look somewhat real. Ask to see a picture of the edge of the kit, the side profile shot. You will see tape, then black plastic, no edge of metal because it's so thin. If you look at a real metal kit, like what CM used to sell (we were their former suppliers of real metal kits), you will see tape, then metal, it will have a bright silver edge to it from our finish sanding.

 

Go to Sport Compact Only, Redlinemax, Liquid Ink. They all carry door inserts and kickplates also.

and now i just want to go for a different look, like wood, or real carbon fiber.
