HMMMM......interesting, why did he say I got the last set? So since the last post of 8 left, now they're down to 5. I have never seen something sell this quick in the forum before. Can't beat the price on these tails. And for those who complained that its too shiny or bling bling... look at the tails closely. The tiny squres is similar to the OEM's. And I figured that the OEM tails looked like these when the car was brand new only its amber. I don't see why people are nit-picking at it. You just can't please everyone.

BTW, for those who called-in to order, did you guys get an order#??? I didn't.

I got a "confirmation number" when I ordered. I don't know if that's the same thing. I'm sure they can track your order just by your name and address. Why worry?

Just wondering. In the past I have ordered some things and wasn't given a confirm#. I waited and turns out the system didn't complete the order. Confirm# usually means that ordering process completed. I went ahead and emailed Greg about this so hopefully, I'll be reassured that things are handled. I wouldn't want to wait a week for nothing.

Just wanted to give you guys a heads up, we had 2 customers call us today and say that they had some difficulties installing them. They said that the bolts on the two outside lights seem to be to long. This was one of the problems we had with our test sample sets, but we told the factory about the fitment issue, they made some changes and sent the new ones back to us. The new samples with the changes fit PERFECTLY on both a 95 and 96 maxima. So this causes me to wonder if they did the production on the older sample. I am expecting a call back from the factory today to find out what could be the issue. Funny thing is that we had several other people call us saying that they fit perfectly. A quick fix could be to shave down the bolt so that it fits flushly with the car. Not sure if there is an issue with all of them or just a few, but I wanted you all to be aware of it and know that we are working on it right now. I'll post an update later.
Thanks,
Greg

So how can too long be a problem? Why would that hurt anything? The bolts would just stick out into the trunk area more, right??

There are basically studs screwed into a thicker plastic piece. The plastic piece is the part that is too long. So when you go to install them the plastic hits against the metal hole and doesn't allow the lights to sit flush against the car. I will post a pictures in the 4th Gen forum so everyone know what I am talking about. I dremeled down one and it fit fine.

The easiest fix is to unscrew the bolts from the plastic and shave down about 2 mm of plastic then screw the bolt back on, that seems to work good.

Just sold the last set. So unfortunately we cannot still honor the $149 price since the next batch coming in will cost us much more. But I am still willing to help you guys out. Normal price is $199 plus shipping, if you call in and mention you are a member of maxima.org your price will be $179 shipped. Alaska and Hawaii orders are $199 shipped. I know alot of you might be bummed that you did not get one of the first batch, so that is why we are still offering some type of discount to you guys.
Thanks,
Greg

Zach, so after you do this modification, it is 100% perfect all around? Can you link us to your 4th gen thread? Thanks.

Update: Just spoke with the factory and they are making the necessary changes. I will be receiving another sample this week and will be test fitting them on a 95 and 96 maxima. I would like two different maximas to test them on. Is anyone willing to bring their max down to our shop for us to test fit the new samples on???? There will be a free set of taillights in it or you. If interested email me at Greg@CustomEnterprise.com, only need about 10 minutes of your time.

Thanks,
Greg

I'd be interested in being a test fitter. It would be a bit of a drive, but I think I could swing it for free taillights. It's a 1995.

I can also do the test fitting if it's sunny out or you give me an outlet for the heatgun if you don't want to do the work.

Sent you an email.

No writeups that I could see, but it's quite straight-forward. Each stock taillight assembly has 4 nuts that need to be removed. Each has a couple of power cables that need to be unclipped. You will see all of this without trouble.

You will have to pull back the trunk liner a little bit to get at the outside taillight bolts (the liner is attached with plastic fasteners that pop out). And you may need pliers for a couple of bolts that are in tight spaces (these will be obvious).

Be careful when you remove the outside taillights. Make sure that no cables are still attached to the car. You will have to remove the bulbs and the cable that attaches them from the outside taillights before removing the whole light.

This will be very clear and obvious once you take a look back there. Use the amber bulbs provided for the turn signals. Reuse your old clear bulbs in the rest of the sockets.

With any luck, the next batch won't require any modifications to make fit perfectly, so that should be all you need to know.

Yes there is a write-up and its part of the 97-99 red/clear conversion, its in the stickies. There's really not much to removing the stock tails, the only thing that makes it difficult is the hardened rubbery sealant. Read on and find out how. You may thank me later.

No............thank you! I'm very happy that its finally here. I could not pass up this opportunity. A can of Duplicolor graphite and painting tape is waiting on the tails. Meanwhile, I'm going to AE the headlights and corner lights for now.

Don't worry about the "hardened rubbery sealant" if you buy these now. It's summer time. The sealant in mine was soft and stretchy from the summer heat. So on a hot day it won't offer much resistance at all.

It should light up just like the turn lenses of the tails. I know that the clearance light is mainly for turning illumination but it's not really all that important to me so I can sacrifice that part. It'll still light up just like a sidemarker.

I'm going to do this in an hour so I will post pics when I'm done.

Received new tails - very disappointed!

I just got home and found a box from CE in my patio. After unpacking everything, I started inspecting the tails and found these (see photos). These are the kinds of things that make me very skeptical about purchasing big items online. I don't complain about little things but this is totally unnecessary and unacceptable. Who the heck packs these things??? The driverside outter tail has a piece that cracked off of a corner. The passenger side outter tail has a big long deep scratch towards the bottom right corner right by the red reflector (where the yellow arrow is pointing at). The weather stripping on the passenger outter and inner tails were hanging down about to fall off, I just went ahead and pulled them because it was dangling and was getting on my nerves as I was trying to take photos of the defects. All this couldn't have happened during shipping as these were bubble-wrapped. Do these guys ever visually inspect these tails before shipping them?? I would have preferred waiting another week to get flawless tails as they should be being that it's brand new out of the box.

Greg...what do we do about this??? I assume that there are no tails left to exchange with this, what now?

Greg was great about dealing with my taillight issues. Give him half a chance and he will probably fix this, too. But yes, I understand your frustration. That's pretty damm bad. But yeah, give them a chance to make things right. I'm fairly confident they will. Good luck man. When you wait in anticipation for an item and see that, it really sucks.

It does......I was about to bake the tails so I can DTM them tonite! I was going to have photos of them on my car by morning. Now I'll wait. Better yet, I'd rather have a set from the 2nd batch where all bugs have been ironed out. That way, I won't have to worry about any fitment/indexing and weather stripping issues.

I'll just forget about these tails, put them in the closet, out of sight/out of mind, and worry about them when I get back next week from the long weekend. I don't even wanna look at these things.

when i recieved mine, what i thought was a scratch ended up being some adhesive that smeared....one of the biggest problems was not actually the CE red/clears itself but the actual removal of the stock taillights, that seal that protects the taillight from water was a b!tch to take off...some minor things about the CE tails were the weatherseal hanging off the lights and cutting the plastic thing so it sits flush with the car, but these are minor and wouldnt make me want to return them, probably one of the best buys for my car visually besides my cefiro headlights..
