Yep it seems like the quicker way and easier to do it but I have read a few times where people have been turned off or put off doing this mod due to the fact that their cat bolts are rusted up so I thought I would mention it to let people know that you dont even have to take the cat off to do this mod.

Good point. I knew I was safe because I just did the 5 speed swap last year and I did my STS in November so I knew the condition of the parts in that area. Most people doing this now has probably never even seen there shifter linkage.
