I know it's not recommended, but I would rather have them in and then get the amp going later with some other upgrades I have in the works.

Then I would hold off installing them until you get an amp. There is a very good chance you will cause damage not using an external amp.

Hey don i currently have a soundstream setup in one of my maximas.
It consists of
Van Gogh 6.5" Components
Tarantula 6.5" 2 ways
SOUNDSTREAM EGA1000.4X AMP
You may know nothing about soundstream but how would you compare the
SLC265 and the SL165 to my surrent setup?
I'm possibly planning on selling this car with all the stereo goods. So i would start over fresh with my other max i'm putting togethor. Do you think it would be wise to keep my amp or find another that would be better suited?

I wouldnt even give the soundstreams a chance. Its a substantially noticable difference. Yes I have quite a bit of experience dating back to when the name Soundstream actually meant something. The past few years has been quite the downfall, especially being owned/controlled by Power Acoustik. It also became painfully obvious when they had reps visiting dealers like Jehovahs witnesses at each door pushing their products. Sadly but true SS isnt the company it once was.

You'd need only two more if Don would just reply to my PMs.

I dont understand the relevance of what we spoke about via phone and PMs to this GD. You already stated you wanted to do it, the other details shouldnt have this hanging.

Maybe so, but it shouldn't matter to you. I'd like to purchase from someone who responds to my PMs and is easy to deal with. I'm not only getting the speakers but the install as well. In the times we spoke, you gave me the impression that your time was more valuable than mine.

I responded to your PM.

Then Im sorry that you feel that way. Purchasing the speakers and getting the install are two seperate things. Other people are waiting here as well. Which makes it a bit unfair to them basing everything on my time and availability. If you feel mistreated, then I apologize, but I must also say youd be the first. I run things fairly and single handedly, hence the reason why when you asked if you could have it installed earleier rather than waiting I informed you it wouldnt be fair to others that have waited some time.

They may be two different things, but I'm still dealing with and paying the same person.

Regarding getting the install earlier, that is a complete nonissue and has nothing to do with you not answering my PMs regarding an install quote. I only asked if its possible. If not, cool. I can wait if it means saving via the GD. I never made any kind of issue about this and it was only one of several questions I asked that day on the phone.

Like I've said, I'd like you to give me a package quote. I don't think that's an unreasonable request given that I'd be purchasing everything from you. I'm asking for something that you probably do with your eyes closed 10 times a day, so it shouldn't be very difficult for you to give me an estimate.

this thred is for the gd and if your in then cool but arguing with someone is better done elsewhere

How many more people do you guys need? I may have to jump in on this my front components are blown. How are these compared to Diamond Hex components? Don do you still have some MDF rings?

i've been told that many people like them better than the diamonds but that the xover are alittle licer on the diamonds

i've also heard that the diamonds lack midbass

lastly, good luck trying to find a pair of diamonds for 220 shipped with warrenty intact

I actually have some Diamond D661i 2-ways and they sound smooth. I just want something that would match and compliment the D661s. I would probably be happy with a component set of D661s but if the Rainbows are that much more impressive I could go that way. I honestly am not too concerned about the lack of midbass, I'm more picky about the temperment of the highs (harsh vs. light and crisp) and about their vocal reproduction.
