Just an FYI,
When i installed my trunk I left the torsion bars on. The only thing about it was that when I popped the trunk it would literally fly open.
I used some small bungee cords that attached to one end of the trunks mounting arms and the other mounted inside the trunk. This allowed the trunk to open much slower when I popped it open.
Once I added the spoiler that gave the trunk just enough weight to keep it from springing open when released, just like it did when i had the OEM trunk on. I no longer needed the bunjee cords.

As far as adding a protective film over it I havent done that. You dont really need to. I wax it every so often and it has kept its original glossy finish. Ive had My trunk for well over a year now, maybe close to two.
How long do you think it has been Jose?

protective film is more for keeping rocks and other debris from hitting it.

I have yet to have debris/rocks hit the trunk. Up front it would be more ideal but unless you drive in reverse quite often I dont see how necessary it would be.
My OEM trunk didnt even have any rock chips on it and it was on the car with factory paint for well over 5 years, the hood however is a different story.

That makes more sense, although Ive owned two lips so far, my original I had for way over 2yrs and my current one ahs been on for about a year now and they havent ever showed signs of rocks chips, my freshly painted bumper is different though.
