HID Plug and Play Kits $160 SHIPPED Head Lights, Fog Lights!
You've got a PM coming your way in just a minute.
Fog kits still $100 shipped? Looking for the 6000k. Also wanted to know if these come with the relay or if that is additional. Oh, and has there been any fitment issue with the H3 size you sell and the H3C size that our fog housings take?
thanks!
thanks!
As for the '02-03 Maxima's, you're looking at using H3C bulbs. Those will drop in without a problem. You can use H3's but you have to do some tampering to get them to fit properly.
Yes sir, on the fog light kit. The relay harness is a no-cost option if you select it when you're ordering the kit.

Cool. I will get the H3c kit then (35w). Im not that technical, but I noticed a lot of people wanting the relays. I know it has something to with power drain or something. What is the real purpose? Also, are there two separate relays that wil be needed and if so, are they sold individually or in pairs?
Last question - honestly, how "plug and play" are these kits?
Thanks!

As far as how plug-and-play the kits are, you can expect to drill a quarter sized hole through the back of the fog light housing cap. That's going to be standard with almost any H3/H3C based housing.
If you're expecting to just replace a bulb and be done, you're better off just buying replacement halogen bulbs. With an HID kit, you're going to have to drill a hole through the back cap and mount the ballasts somewhere. It's not that hard, it just sounds more complicated than it really is. If you can change a light bulb, all you're doing here is adding an extra box inbetween.
Operatic, do you have fog kits for the 5.5 gen in Amber? I don't mean yellow, I mean amber, which is somewhat more orange. Rather like when LED's are labeled "amber", they have that orange look. Note the running lights in my sig photo.
There are a few members over in the 5th gen forum who are interested in Amber fogs.

There is... an oddball color code that we've done a couple times before. Problem is, it's not a consistent output. Some cars it burns an amber color, other cars it comes out an amber/rose color.
This is a raw picture out of an ML500 headlight. Atleast I think it was an ML500... honestly it's been in the back for so long I forgot what it came out of.

Another raw picture. Directly off the camera, this comes out an orange color.

But... there's always a but. In person, it looks more like this.

Now I've stuck these into the fog lights on a '97 Civic and they came off a light amber color. I honestly do not know what color they'll come out as on any year Maxima. Again, it's not a color we admit to having because we don't know what the hell color it really is. But if you're hell bent on it, we can get a couple sets in for ya. Or we can just order some orange LED bulbs.

That's a very honest response. Thank you. As you probably surmise, I'm hesitant to order a HID kit that turns my fogs pink.
I might do it as a gamble, but want to exhaust other options first.
Are your LED bulbs any different than these below? Some of us have tried them already, and although they're the perfect color that we're all looking for, they have zero light output. What kind of design are your H3 LED's? And do you recommend removing the hat in the lens when running LED's?

Do you carry H3 bulbs for the fogs? not the short h3c that they normally take. but the longer bulbs? I would like the custom 3000k you have. Fogs on a 2002 maxima. Also 5000k low beams if possible.

The brightest LED bulb we've ever gotten in that is plug-in are the 3-Watt/10-Flux bulbs. But they don't make them in the H3 size (there's not enough room for the heatsink in that bulb size). I know we can get the ones you posted pictures of, and ones that have 1-Watt LED's on 5 sides (4 sides, 1 on top). We've never bothered stocking any headlight/fog light sized bulb cause they don't light up worth a damn.
Personally, I would take the shroud off on the fog light. But you know what, if you're going to take it apart, paint the reflector a dark orange. Then throw in a 4300k or a 5000k bulb. It'll light up the housing an orange color (how orange depends on color used) but will light up the ground white. I've seen this done on a Silverado headlight where the guy wanted a blue headlights but the brightest output possible.
The 5000k's though we do have in stock.
We do carry the regular H3 HID bulbs. They're, if I remember right, about 1.65-Inches long (about 0.10 shorter, or something vague like that. Been a while since I measured a bulb). We normally stock 3000k but we're cleaned out until another stocking order comes through. We've been working against backorders on a couple different sizes as of late >_<

You mean, when running LED's, right?
The reflector? Do you mean the concave, silver backing in the fog lens housing? That never occurred to me. Great idea!
It reads like you've done this before... does the lens would still look OEM clear when off?

They're on order, we're just stuck waiting on them to come in. I'll PM both of ya'll when they get in.

I'm thinking of doing this with one of the bolt-in G1 or G3 Projectors just to see if I can get a 4300k bulb to have that new Lexus IS250 look without sacrificing visibility.
Never got anything. can you pm me how much shipped to 11967 for the 5000k low beams for both the 02 maxima and the 9006 bulbs for the camaro.
And yep, paint the silver backing of the fog light. It's going to look a little weird when the light itself is off. The glass itself will still be clear, but you're going to get an orange hue in the housing when you look at it. Think of how a housing looks when you throw blue bulbs in there where you always have that blue tint in the housing, only stronger. Because you literally painted the whole thing.
Good advice, Operatic. And now I've got a late-winter project to keep me entertained!
Those HIDS dont last a year, im pissed. Got a kit from you a year and a half ago. I went through 3 sets of 50w hids. Install is fine. For some reason, the bulbs just melt. The glass becomes white, and they just burn. Last bulbs didnt last 6 months. Got them directly from the factory. Is it because of the 50w ballasts or what? sick of changing bulbs every 6 months, I think ill go back to the damn halogens....
Hey I'm interested in getting the H3 3000k hid kit for my fogs on my 2003 maxima.
What is the slight modification I will have to do in order for the housing to accept the H3s instead of the H3c? Thanks

There's a small piece of metal you have to nudge out of the way. Not hard, just a little tinkering.
*Bump*
Did a lot of cleaning up on the website, expanded on the "browse by car" section for vehicle specific parts and because it makes it easier if you don't know the bulb size for your vehicle.
http://shop.3bspecialties.com/Browse-by-Car_c47.htm
Also carrying a slightly cheaper kit that we've been field testing locally. Looking at about $80 shipped. That whole line is listed here until I can get them categorized:

Anything lower than that... well... PM me and we'll talk.

Operatic - one of the ballasts I used on an install for my other car recently went bad (outside the one year warranty period). How much would you charge for a replacement?
Thanks!
Thanks!
