Our Thermal Intake Spacers for the VQ35DE show a nice power gain below 5K rpm in the low end and midrange. After 5K, there is only a 1 hp increase, which isn't worth noting.
Please let me know if you have any more questions. I'm more than happy to help out.

Just a follow up. I am going to post this here also < http://forums.maxima.org/6th-generat...ml#post6592869 >
I believe the knock might be also coming from not the springs being installed wrong, but with the hood knocking against the FSTB (if installed to include the NWP LIM/UIM kit). I noticed on my hood that I am starting to rub the paint away (small areas equal on both sides) but again just food for thought.

Here is the group purchase thread. All we need is 3 advanced purchases and I will be able to put this kit back into production. They have been discontinued because of the extremely low demand. Let me know if you have any questions.
Im interested in these but wanna see if anyone has put these on their 4th gen VQ30 yet. Was there a noticable difference in power? and how long did it take to install....I have a 98 GLE Auto and wanna see if its really worth it....

They aren't exactly spacers specifically for the DEK. But, a hardware kit is being developed to enable you to install the 4th gen spacers on the DEK. Some cutting of the UIM Spacer will need to be required. I plan to have instructions to show exactly what you need to to do.
But to answer your question, the DEK hardware kit has been tested and everything went very well! For the 2000 Maxima with the EGR system, an EGR extension kit was developed to allowed a 1/4" Upper Intake Manifold Spacer to be installed and still maintain function of the stock EGR system. The 2001 Maxima guys do not have an EGR system and won't have to purchase this add-on to the kit.
The hardware kit is currently in production and should be available for sale within the next 3 weeks.
Thanks for your interest. Please let me know if you have any more questions.

2-3 hours is the expected labor time.
Please read over the original post in this thread. It should tell you everything you need to know.
Also, please visit the website to read more about these spacers:
http://www.nwpengineering.com/Phenolic_Spacers.html
But still, to answer your question, these spacers reduce intake manifold temperatures and reduce heat soak. Your car will not get as slow as it did before during those hot summer days or hot laps on the race track. They also improve airflow and lengthen the intake runners which provide a noticeable low end and midrange power increase.

Whats going on with this?

The 00-01 Maxima has the VQ30DEK engine. Whenever you see the term "DEK", that means the 00-01 Maxima.

To install the VQ35DE Thermal Intake Spacer Kit takes 2-3 hours. You will need to be able to know how to properly apply RTV and know how to operate a torque wrench and follow torque procedures. I say if you can replace your own brake pads or can replace your intake manifold without problems, then you can easily handle this install.
But the best way for you to determine how hard the install is, is for you to read over the installation instructions. You can find them in PDF format here:
