Anyone here been using Maxspeed Springs for a while?

I'm Looking into buying Maxspeed Springs. Can't beat the price for one. But I also would like to know if they are quality springs. Has anyone had these springs for some period of time (6 mos-1 yr)? I would like to know how long you,ve had them and what you think about them. Thanx

I've had mine for a few months now, and I love them. Look on the SE forum under "I am lowered now" thread. mb1 also just got them and has posted his impressions. I like mine a lot. You are right, you can't beat the price. The ride is very comparable to stock, and the drop is about 1.5" or so. I put mine onto the stock struts and have not had any problems at all. You could also email or post something in the SE forum for a guy named ivolley. He met up with me and rode in the car, because he had just ordered a set for his 98. You could ask him what he thought (he actually posted his impressions on the thread mentioned above, go look at it). My long 2 cents.

Hey JaimeCBR900, nice rims. What kind are they? (nice bike too btw)

I am also looking into getting these springs, but don't have the $$ for shocks/struts. I'm wondering how long that stock SE shocks/struts would last with these springs. As you can see in my sig pic, I'm looking like an SUV

My rims are Konig Maximum187's. I like your wheels too I like the Maxspeeds a lot. As I said before, you guys go an read the thread in the Southeast forum titled "I lowered my max" (something like that) and inside there is a detailed impressions on the springs. As far as how long the stock struts will last, I don't know but I'm going to find out. I've had mine on for a few months and had no problems so far, hopefully I didn't just jinx myself.

I've only had my springs on for about 3-4 mos now. Long enough to know if I like them or not I guess. They are on my stock struts, and I'll see how long that lasts. I suspect that it would last just as long as any other struts.

None whatsoever, so far. I've read posts where people swear that you have to get new struts when you change your springs because they will "blow" out your stock struts. I figured that my stock struts are in good shape, why not??? So far, they are working like a champ. Let's hope I don't jinx myself now.

2 .5 months and going strong

I am using maxspeed's with KYB AGX and I am very pleased. They have settled nicely now and I need to place new pics on CarDomain. Ride is a little stiffer than stock but, keep in mind it is a GLE.

Biggest improvement I noticed was handling. I can corner at a much higher rate of speed without feeling like my car is going one way and me another.

All in all, I thought it was a great mod for the money. I got in on the first GD from Wizzamax.

mohfo,

I am not sure if your talking aftermarket Tokicos or stock style but the springs for the GLE and GXE are identical...just wanted to make certain cause my OEM struts and shocks are Tokico.

The stock Tokicos like mine are different than the Blues...yours are marginally more performance oriented.

I can't remember. Are these the springs that ride slightly higher in the front for 5-speeds because of the lower weight of the manual tranny?

All the reviews I have seen show the ride is very level on all cars...regardless of tranny but your fact is evident often.

stock shocks are usually "high charge" shocks and in most cases liquid filled (that' why they feel heavier) aftermarkets tend to be low charged shocks and are usually gas filled to keep cost down.. the higher end aftermarket shocks are also liquid filled.. imo liquid filled shocks are more consistant..

Nope, they lower the front more than the rear. If your looking out at my car in a parking lot, the front gap matches the rear gap. The car has a slight rake to it.

I've had the Maxspeed springs with stock struts for over four months now. The front is actually slightly lower than the rear on my car.

Ive had mine on for about a month now. The drop is Great! The rear Struts Blown, but Its not like making any serious Noises or a really bad ride or anything. I gott aget some AGX's for the back, So Im gonna do that soon. But all in all, is the best mod for the buck!

Nick

PS. The Ride IS stiffer, I also have a GLE.
