G/D: Cattman Upper Intake Pipe/ Intake+Filter,

Uncertain of 4th gen's Fraken Intake production availability, I've went ahead and inquired Cattman about getting together a groupdeal for the PR Intake.

This groupdeal closes on March 31st.
You MUST have JWT Pop Charger, Stillen Intake/K&N Filter or Monsterflow to work with the upper intake tube. (Stillen Intake will NOT work with the lower PR tube for CAI application)

Upper Intake Application is as follows:
TB-->Upper Tube-->MAF-->MAF Adaptor-->Filter

The following Cattman groupdeal intake pricing:
(applicable for ALL 1989-2001 Maximas)

Upper Intake tube price is $75
(Powdercoat Black w/ black hoses and clamps)

Combo (upper tube + Monsterflow filter) is $115
Combo (upper tube with the Jim Wolf POP intake) is $175

We already have over 10 people in this groupdeal. I will be responsible for collecting payments(money order) and in turn, issue ONE payment for the total amount due to Cattman. Cattman will ship the orders out to each individual w/i 48 hours of receiving payment from me.

Shipping Charge: (First price is west of Mississippi, Second is east)
Upper tube only $10/15
Upper tube w/ Monsterflow filter OR the JW Pop $13/$18

Upper piece tubing+ filter results in a deeper, smoother sounding noise compared to the other 2 setups (pop-charger intake, complete CAI).

Sorry- The groupdeal is applicable for black powdercoat finish only. Cattman provided the following explanation:

Brian Cattman:
...The silver powdercoat is more money and I won't be buying the silver pieces in the same quantity as I do the black, so I don't get the same discount. That may change in the future, but until I buy into the silver in the same quantity I am with the black, I can't match the deals.
THANK YOU
Ange

Deal ends when I have at least 10 people committed or end of next week 3/29/02.

Not to infringe on this deal any but whats the difference between the Place racing and the Warpspeed upper pipe? I am interested in the upper pipe deal for myself. However, Warpspeed has the upper pipe for 75 at a normal price. Is one different from the other? If not, why so much for PR's at a group price?

Hi There-
Pricing:
I do not represent the manufacturer from either brand, nor did I establish the above listed groupdeal prices, Cattman Performance (distributor of PR) did. This groupdeal exists today b/c Cattman is offering a respectable discount from their normally listed price, NOT in comparison to Warpspeed products or any other company's product.

It's like asking the diff. bet. Cattman FSTB and Courtesy FSTB? They both look the same, made for the same purpose. Why is there a $10-15(or whatever it is) difference?

Product:
I've never owned either PR or Warpspeed Intake so I cannot personally tell you the differences between the two. I rather leave that to people who have actually had those items in their car OR the manufacturers themselves address your question.

Put me in for the upper pipe, if there is no cutting. (99 GXE)

I have a "popcharger" knockoff with a K&N filter; can I reuse the K&N
(or is the Monsterflow that much better)?

Thanks

It's only the upper pipe, no cutting is involved. If you're looking to save $, you can reuse the K&N filter IF diameter of that filter u're currently using is the same as the Jim Wolf Pop Charger/K&N filter.

Re: Here's the upper tubing setup

Sorry to be a bother but...

I have a mickey mouse arrangement that is maybe like the JWT Popcharger. Problem is, only 2 of the 4 holes on the adapter that holds the K&N filter on are lined up properly, so it is held on by 2 screws with the other two holes plugged (not a comforting arrangement for me). So I guess I need the JWT Popcharger also.

As for the upper pipe, just curious, what is the benefit/gain? These ??? are for anybody, don't mean to bother you 97MaxGurl with all my ??? and thanks for putting this together.

I guess bottom line is I need a new adapter, filter and the upper tube, so put me in for that (upper pipe and Monsterflow, thanks for the info Ange). Whew!

Thanks.

If I buy the 'upper pipe only' and provide my own K&N filter will I have everything I need to put this on my car? Or are there other parts needed?

I guess since the other fourum is down for a few weeks that the GD will be on this one.

Ange - Can you or Cattman give us a complete list of what is included with the 'upper pipe only'? You mentioned in the other thread it came with clamps and other hardware. I don't really know much about what is needed but in addition to the upper pipe and filter I am guessing you would need ----

2 Clamps
MAF adapter for filter?
Some sort of support or bracket?

Yes, you can paint it in whatever color.. just be sure to use high temp paint. I'm planning to do the same.

Nine7Max: I have the Stillen Intake too, unfortunately, it will not fit the PR Upper Intake tube.
Ange

Anachronism: Try checking out www.cattmanperformance for additional info on their Place Racing Intake product. If you buy the upper tube only, you can use your K&N cone filter. You are basically just the upper piece of an entire PR Cold Air Intake setup. You wouldn't need additional hardware/parts, you must be sure the K&N cone filter you are using is compatible with PR tube. Also inquire with www.placeracing.com if you have general questions of filter+ intake fitment.

drewpee91: If you get either combo, everything you need to make the intake work will be included. I am assuming your Max is 3rd gen?? Diff. bet. Monsterflow filter and JWT Pop Charger is the price. As far as performance, I would say it's debatable. No one has dynoed with both setup to show any significant performance difference as of yet.

Re: Re: Re: Re: When will this deal end ?

One large concern I have is, will the upper intake pipe with the JWT POP charger use the venturi? I did some testing with intakes back when I was working on a Formula SAE car, and those things make HUGE differences in CFM and velocity. If I can't use the JWT with it's venturi, I really don't want to bother with an aftermarket intake.

So, the big question for me is, will the pipe accept the venturi with the JWT POP charger?

uhh correct me if i am wrong but dosen't the upper intake tube connect from the throttle body to the MAF and the air flow meter connects to the stillen or jwt air filter right?????? so it should be able to go on. again i am very interested in getting the upper tube just have to wait till i get paid.

Finality: The deal ENDS this weekend even though we already have 10 buyers.

Sin: I'm not the expert of intake systems. I'm just helping my fellow members by setting up this intake groupdeal. Please try the search function on the top right corner of the page.

jdmmax: [MY CORRECTION] This PR upper tube DOES physically fit the Stillen Intake Filter with the MAF adapter. Here's the upper tubing setup (in Cumalot's Max), this will answer your install question(s) ..the upper intake is blue.
