http://forums.maxima.org/showthread....=cali+spec+vin
This is confirmed on Cattmans website which shows 1 part# for all Max's 95-99 and two separate for fed and cali in 1999.
Bottom line: The budget Y will NOT fit the '99 cali spec Max.
well i got mine in today
i must say i loke the way they packaged it(bubble wrap) but hey it makes sense and it arrived fine so i can't complain. first thing i noticed was the bends. even though it's non-mandrel bent they are so smooth you prob won't get a 1/2hp extra out of a mandrel bent pipe.
now the bad news....I NEED A ACETYLINE TORCH!!!!
i tried to put it on tonight....got all the bolts loose but the 2 on the cat. those suckers were practially round! so i think i may have to break down and bring it somewhere. i just hate paying someone to do something i could.
so i have my pipe, and am very impressed with the quality of it. now all i need is to get the thing on there!!

Latest Update: Y-Pipe GD
Guys,
Just got a reply from Joanne at Budget Exhaust. They don't have any mandrel-bent Y pipes left. For those who already got the "smooth" Y-pipes, they are mandrel-bent.
However, they still have the non-mandrel ones....and it's the same price, $250 Canadian. You could call 1-800 256-4482 or (905) 681-4579 and place your order via Joanne/Jody.
They only had 30 mandrel-bent pipes, and they are all sold. They are waiting for our feedback about the mandrel-bent ones, and once we are satisfied, they will put them on sale for $ 300 Canadian.
I did place my order and I will get the non-mandrel one. Perhaps we are looking at 1-2hp difference, but I could live with it.
Good luck guys!

orgasmicNYC,
You are indeed correct! I just called them up and unfortunately Jody/Joanne were already gone for the day. Rich (the guy I talked with) said that they made 5 new y-pipes today, and they are all mandrel-bent pipes.
You know, it would not be fair if everybody gets mandrel-bent pipes and I am the only one that get non-mandrel!
Thanks!

Budget Still Taking Orders
After e-mailing Monday and still not hearing from them I just couldn't wait any longer and called Jody. She said they are pretty swamped and behind on the e-mails. However she did take my order at the group deal price over the phone. So some of you others who are waiting for a e-mail back from Budget, just call them up! They are realy nice and will ship orders taken today next Monday. Let the waiting (for my y-pipe to arrive) begin...
got mine on last night and its pretty cool. it is definately louder, 2-3x. i have a custom dynomax catback system. as for the performance, the pull doesnt feel much harder on my @ss but 1st gear does spin easier up to redline... i like it!
the shop is very small for one. judy is the only one who takes the orders. i'm not sure of thier hours but judy races on the weekends and i think the other guys do as well. so be patient....she will get back to you as soon as she can.

So will their y-pipe fit a 95 cali spec car? They said no but I thought I read something about it fitting it. LMK, today is the last day for the GD.

For those trying to order. Dont bother calling in till ~Thursday. I talked to Jody and she said they ran out and would prefer not to run peoples cc numbers until they manufactured some more.
Good CS in my opinion
As for Jody yes she is hardly there..... though I heard M-Th 9-2 is the only time you will get her.

tried to install today...
Man, I finally tried to put the pipe on today wit a couple friends. The d**n nuts are killin me. We couldn't get the dumb nuts off the cat. My friend had a impact wrench ( not a real strong one ) and a torch and we still couldn't get them off !! Now, I gotta take the thing in to a muffler shop like Midas or sumthin just to loosen those two dumb-nuts tomorrow. It was so frustrating !! How's the install goin for the rest of u guys ? Better then me , I hope.

i had the same problem.....need a torch to get those suckers off.
i had to bring mine somewhere to get it done...thanks god my friend knew somewhere. i called around before i got the pipe and nobody would do it cause the 2 pre-cats were being removed and it's illegal in mass. mine's on now. i notice a bit of a diference in the higher rpm's. as for sound, not much of a diference. the intake still overpowers the pipe as far as sound goes. but i got a nasty leak at the cat. now that the old pipe is off i can fix it when i get time.
hope everyone else's went on fine.
