Maybe that is the case if you are replacing rotors that aren't warped, and installing them just as an upgrade. But what if, like in my situation; I am installing the new rotors only because my rotors are warped? Do I need new pads? I bought new pads both front and rear about 4 months ago (not at the same time.) BTW I just got rotors and they look exactly like the pictured ones do.

BigDogJonx- Do you know if these rotors already deglazed?
Hey Menacer, If your actual pad are unevent you can use sand paper to remove scratch and resurface, otherwise the pads will adapt fairly quick to the new rotors. Unless your pads are damaged you should install it with your new rotors, that is exactly what I'm going to do.

Thank you doublea, put what grit of sand paper should I use? Also when you are refering to damage pads do you mean pads that are worn down to where it's time to replace them? Thanks

I mean if your pads are worn to the rivets, there is not other choice than replace it, for the sand paper dont use a too rough, maybe a 150. The way to do it is put the sand paper on a flat surface and sand the pads by holding the pads face down and rubbing to make the surface even, but if your pads have little scratch and are not damage dont bother doing that just slap those in and the brake system will do the rest.

Cheers

installed them and just took her for a ride. i used my old AXXIS metal masters, about 5000 miles old. with the stock rotors i was getting brake judder at 60 mph or higher, but with these i am getting it at 35 mph. now i haven't tried braking hard, but i am getting a really strong vibration in the steering wheel, while braking at 35 mph.. my back is hurting from all the work, and now this. someone please tell me whats going on

question on topic

I am gonna be getting rims soon. Can anyone tell me will stock rotors look ****ty with 6 or 7 spoke 18's like tantrums or enkei R5's? Because I really do not wanna spend money on rims if stock rotors will look bad. I may have to buy some of these rotors as well. Are these rotors for performance or just for looks. If I need rotors I want the cheapest thing that will look good. I don't need performance because I will not be racing my car.

Why not read the entire thread before asking questions that might already been answered?

Will your stock rotors look like crap? Yes, given that they will look rusted.

These are both for performance and looks.

Your 18's will make your stock rotors and these stock-size replacement rotors look smaller. Get a front big-brake kit if you want them to look really nice. If not enough $$$$, at least get these replacements.

Need advice before installing rotors.

Hi guys, I received my 4 new rotors, 4 Goodrige SS Brakes lines and 2 quarters of Motul Brake fluid ( I know I repeat myself but ... ). Before I go ahead with the installations, I am wondering how many quarter of oil are required to go in when the brakes lines and master cylinder system is flush ? I want to be shure to have enough oil before starting the job. Does anyone know how much Nissan sell the Maxima's Caliper ? I have this idea to make the brakes look very cool, I want to buy a new set and have them anodized processed, the final look is very good, many colors are available, the finish make the surface harder and wont peel off like the paint and will not rust.

Cheers

Rotors jammed...

I tried to removed the rotors in the back and there jammed, I used some wd 40 and the small hammer but the b*tch would not come out. Before I take the 5 lbs hammer to beat the $hit out of it, is there a better way to remove those suckers or the 5 lbs hammer is still the king.

Cheers

the back ones are harder to get off, compared to the front ones. take two 12mm bolts. Screw them in the 2 little holes around the hub. That should free the rotor up. Also when i did the rear ones, i had to get the emergency brake cable off, to get the caliper off. Don't use too much force to get off the caliper or you will bend it. Remember the rear piston is screw in. do not use a C-CLAMP on it, or you will mess it up. i will check the forum in 10 minutes. if u have any ques post them.

Honestly you dont need to mess with the bolts in the hub. Just put some WD40 and band on the HUB part only. Not the rotor surface. Just bang it with fairly good hits while rotating the rotor and basically hitting all 5 points between the bolt studs. I gaurantee you it will fall off withing the first 5 hits.

This is the best way to do it without damaging anything.

No problem. I mean it is very easy. Just remember to rotate the rotor and keep hitting it and it will fall off by itself.

I successfully installed the rear one without problems I just needed to hammer it a little, there was no whole so cannot used the 12 mm bolt, the new rotors have the 2 wholes in it, this morning I'm heading to my local speed shop for SS Brakes lines. I will install the front one after and finish with the calipers painting. Thanks a lot, you guys are like my family.

Told you would get it out with a bit tapping my PowerTech brother.

I want to do Stainless lines, but people keep telling me it wont make too much of a difference since we aint like autocrossing or anything.

I put my rear on today and it looks nice. The process took the whole afternoon because on of the bolts (14mm) broke and I have to run to the dealer to get a new one. I paid $20.48 for new joints and bolts.... It took a while before the rotors came off. JUST KEEP HAMMERING IT!! Start hammer around the rotor and the center to get the brake rust off and just start to hammer that sucker out while rotating the rotor.

It looks nice, improved braking!!!

He he, PowerTech brother, I'm over with the install, it took me a good 4-5 hours do put the new front rotors and to cleaned and paint the calipers there like silver with anodized reflect, I will shure try to take some pics maybe tommorow. I can tell for shure that this is one of the best bang for the buck mods that I did for my max. I'm going to allow a break in period before rushing the but but already I can say that the braking is improove, now my wheel looks great with this set-up.

Thanks again bros.

How did you break the 14mm bolts on the rear? How??? I mean I used a breaker bar and got them off with extreme ease.

I took them off without a problem and I noticed that the bolts were a little rusted. I cleaned it off with WD40 and put it back on. I guess the bolt were really bad so when I tighten it, it just snapped. I called my mechanic and he told me the bolt and the joint is a dealer item so I rushed to the Nissan dealership that closes at 5pm and it was already 4:45pm , thank god my friends minivan was quick and got there just in time before, I was the last customer

Still odd that they were rusted, I guess you live in a snowy environment. Cause I drove my car only through snow like 4days when it snowed hard in the SouthEast a back in January.

Ive had the rotors the longest since I believe I got the first and I have broken them in and still running the stock pads. And lets just say the braking is much better and also no judder.

I have starting braking fairly hard in the past couple of days and have not seen any issues.
