Id depends on how loud you want the sound. If I was going to get a full catback Id get Greddy, its not too loud, but has a nice humm. I am going to get a B pipe as well as a 5th gen muffler to keep it quiet and it looks tight.

Well, they are all just bent metal tubes. There is not much that one company can do over another as far as HP gains. So like stated above it's mostly looks and sound that set them apart.

I am going to add a budget B-pipe to my Y-pipe and keep the stock muffler. Then I may put a Greddy or Cattman rear section on later. That way, if it's too loud then I can just put my stock rear section back on and sell the aftermarket one.

Being that a full cat-back will give you less than 10hp just get what you think looks the best. Please, no coffee can muffler. It would be a shame to do that to and I30

Yeah, I had a GReddy on my 3rd Gen and it did droan. It was great when I was alone, but the extra load from the extra people made it droan. Rather annoying. I'm going to go the same route as BBaker and get a B-Pipe with a 5th Gen muffler.

i dont like how the stock muffler looks.. the tip is kinda small for me..
so a b-pipe n a y-pipe make it a nice hp gain and a nice sound not too loud right?

how about the apexi?

any 1 like it or have it?

I don't have an Apexi, but I assume your talking about the WS. I have seen and heard a Max that had a y-pipe and Apexi WS catback. It's not really loud at all from the outside. I don't know about the drone from the cabin.
Tha thing about the apexi is that it is 2.25" compared to 2.5" that the Greddy, cattman and stillen are. The 2.5" will flow better a high RPM's.

I would and plan to do this.

I have a Y pipe from WSP.

I have a B pipe without a resonator.

I'll put a MagnaFlow Delta 40 muffler and a nice tip.

I don't expect much droan, like a true flowing exhaust.

for the apexi ws, couldnt i just have a bigger pipe installed, or would that not work.

the droan for the greddy, is that b/c of the y & b pipes? or is it from the muffler itself?
i might not care about the droan, b/c i'll prob just put my subs on louder, or is it just an unbearable droan?

where culd i find a stillen exhaust system?

I suppose you could cut off the B pipe on the Apexi and put on a custom 2.5", but that would be pointless and stupid. You would pay $400 for an apexi catback and then chop it up and have a $100 custom pipe welded to the muffler.

Droan is usually caused by the muffler.

I just got a Y-pipe for now. Exhaust tone is a little deeper and louder, but basically like stock.

The droan is from the altered pipes, if you just want sound and normal performance.... Greddy does sound great.

This is my theory of HP gains, I think that most people will agree with me when I explain this.

There is no real way to calculate and write down the actual gains from any one modification. Its better to describe a mods performance gain as a percentage than anything else and I'll tell you why. 99% of all mods, stickers excluded...and hyperwhite bulbs, will compliment each other and boost each others performance value. A Y-pipe is rated to give you like 20-25hp, but will really give you like 13-15 depending on what other mods you have. Now if you have a cat back exhaust, intake and cat mods you'll see a better gain out of your mod.

Back to your question.

A cat back really wont give you any gains by itself. It will make your car sing, but not help you break the land speed record. If you have all the other mods (y-pipe/intake/cat) then apply your cat back you'll probably see a few peak HP gains, but what you'll see is your dyno arc flatten on the back side. This is good for high-end performance but wont do squat for your low end.

Clear as mud.

Happy tuning

Does anyone know anything about the JDM SRS exhaust? http://www.ebay.com/itm/JDM-SRS-CATB...#ht_2078wt_678
Is it good and worth the money or garbage?

And what about the Megan Racing exhaust?

Good or bad?

Hey guys just bought an 05 Max and am interested in an exhaust system. I want to not too loud and would prefer a deep growl. I like the look of the car stock but wouldnt mind fiddling with teh exhaust. Please let me know the best way to go. Thanks in advance.
