Front SwayBar - Reduces understeer??

Hey all, just got back from the local nissan dealership (inifniti dealer is real far away) and the sales rep said that if i wanted to tighten up my suspension, a front sway bar would be the way to go, as the rear setup couldnt mount one. I had origionally thought that adding a front sway bar would make the car harder to turn, and push towards understeer (which is already too prevalent). Am I right? or is the dealer (gasp!) correct about something related to performance?

Your dealers a noob.

Fitting a larger/heavier FSB to an otherwise stock suspension would promote further understeer. To the best of my knowledge no upgraded FSB is available for the A32 anywhere in the world either, so its all custom. Addco and Progress (Cattman) both have RSB's that bolt straight on and help reduce understeer.

Yep a noob. Lots of other ways to tighten suspension but that's not what you're looking for.

Sounds like the RSB is the way to go to reduce the understeer. Anyone on here have one in their i30's? Is it easy to install yourself, like, is it a true bolt on? Also, what do you torque the bolts to, 30lbs? Any info is appreciated...

my progress RSB should be here today or tomorrow...so i'll let you know how the "bolt on" goes. but it shouldn't be that hard cause they come with instructions, and the org has instructions posted to further the install.

How did the stillen fit? Did you do the install yourself? And how much did it run ya, like 200 beans? Any side effects from it, ie, squeaking, etc?

Would be interested in knowing how installation goes also. If all is good, I'm going to get one for my 2000 I30T.

Does anyone know if the front strut bar from custommaxima.com will fit the I30? I couldn't find any information in the forum about fit besides the Cattman and Stillen ones, which are pretty expensive.....

It is a perfect fit. I let my mechanic install it for me at that time. I was an idiot at that time and bought all my stuff directly from Steallen....paid over $200. no side effects other than great when cornering.

Sounds cool, although I may install it myself. You think its easy enough to do yourself? From the pics, it looooooks like there are two allen key style screws per fastener, and the unit just clips onto the rear strut arms. Is there any good way to know where on the arms it goes, IE, how far away from the sockets/pivots, or does it self center when tightened? I guess worst case, if i cant put it on myself, i'll just have it done. Did it come with decent instructions??

I know I asked alot of questions, just wanna be sure. Answer em if ya like, id appreciate it much!

How was the install on the progress RSB. Any issues with fit etc. You ordered from custommaxima.com right - still deciding which one to buy -Stillen or Progress. Thanks for the insight.
