#@!$ #$%# wheels

So I've been waiting 3 months for my 18's to arrive. I bought them on backorder and they finally arrived like a week and a half ago. I've been really busy at work so I haven't been able to pick them up until now. Buuuut, the mother $#%*!$ sold my 18's in the mean time. Now here's the thing. He has 17's on hand, ready to go. I won't save all that much on the wheels themselves as the 18's are only like 80 bucks more total but I'll also save money on the tires if i go for 17's instead.

Saving money = good.
Unhappy with the wheel size = bad.

Is there really that much difference between the two other than the obvious inch? I've seen pics of some max's on 17's and it just doesn't look right while on others it looks perfect. I can always wait for more 18's to come in but that may take another 3 months for all I know. (he said they may come in on Friday but he told me the same thing 3 months ago). Should I get the 17's? I have maxspeeds now but Im buying sprints from another member as I type this so it'll be pretty low.

Ugh, ****es me off.

I'd wait for the 18s. I've got 17s now and all I want are 18s or 19s. The grass is always greener you know...might as well get the greenest while you can - it'll save you money and hassle in the long run

I think because you are going so "low," 18s would be the best...wait on them! I have 17s on my car with H&Rs and it looks perfect...that's my personal opinion.

If you can afford changing 18" tires then wait for 18s. If you answer yes to this then cost shouldn't be an issue so look to buy them from else where even if it cost a bit more cause u'll be happier in the long run..

hey... let me know if you do decide on 18/19's and sell your OEM's. I may need bigger wheels to fit in my brake upgrade.

ok this is my opinion.

If you are looking for looks, and depending on the rim a 17 will look fine. The overall fit should be the same reguardless of rim size until you get into 19 and 20in rims. Most new 17s are made to illusion 18in, and you can save money and weight that way. Most people really get 18 and 19in rims more for status than actual look. I've gone from 17x to 17x7 to 18x8 back to 17x8, what I've learned is that most 18 in rims are really heavy and tires are about 30-50 bucks more a wheel than 17's. 18in and larger really cause power loss from weight and rotational mass.

So if you into nothing but looks and status, 18+in rims are a must.

What year is your car and what kind of rims?

Car is a Silver 98 and the rims are Lexani Raptors. A buddy of mine has 17's on his new Altima and they look HUGE for some odd reason. What I think is that the wheels which are flush with the outer edge of the tire usualy appear to be larger than ones where the spokes/rim is beveled an inch or two into the wheel. The ones I'm getting sit pretty much flush..maybe 1/4 inch bevel at most so I'm considering 17's..especially since I'm STILL waiting and getting annoyed as hell at this point.

I've just seen too many Max's with 17's where the wheels seems way too small. If I could find more examples of 17's which look huge like my buddy's then I'd go for 17's for sure but as of now his are an oddity which can't be explained.

I agree that the design of the rim is a big factor as to the rim appearing to look larger or not. If you are doing chromes I'm assuming that speed and performance are not at the top of your list of priorities.... I would go 18.

This is kind of off topic, and I dont want to take over your thread.

Does anyone know the best and cheapest way to ship rims?

To stay on topic, wait for the 18's they will look soo much better.

Just rims, or rims with tires mounted?

Always thought they put some padding between two tires, stacked em 2 high then taped the crap out of them together. Then box and ship.

put cardbord on each side of the rim, then wrap them in shrink wrap or clear packing tape. Put the address on each wheel and your good to go. I have shipped rims twice this way.
