Brake noise only in reverse
I have a question about the brakes on my mom's 03 I35. When she backs out of the driveway and applies the brakes they make a terrible scraping noise that sounds like complete metal on metal. Then she starts driving foreward and the brakes are smooth as silk and don't make a bit of noise. The car only has 6k on it but we are worried about the brakes. Is this anything that we need to be worried about and should I take it to the dealer?

My car is a 2002 I35 with 23,000 and I just started having the same problem you are talking about. It only does it in reverse and it just recently started. I have no idea what it is but i would like to know why it all the sudden started.

Does this only happen when you first turn on and move the car that day?
It's not uncommon for rust to build up on the rotors overnight (rain, dew, etc.) and have the brakes squeal once the brakes are first applied. But if it's happening outside of the first time you're applying the brakes, I'd get it checked out.

meta,
Yes this happens (to me) only in the morning. Your amswer is the same thing that i was thinking it was but the only unanswered question i have now is why did it just start making audible sounds within the past few thousand miles?
