well technically..it isnt impossible..you'd have to be EXTREMELY meticulous with your engine though, and car in general.

 

Check! Search for my posts over the years. It was interesting to see the trials I went through in maintenance. I used synthetic fluids only, with oil changes averaging every 20K miles.

715,0000 miles...WOW. Only that one tranny change at 500K?

 

One manual tranny at ~550K miles.
Clutch at 100K and 550K miles.
Brakes at 215K and maybe 400K (forgot)
Mobil 1 synthetic every 20K miles (average).
Synthetic Transmission Oil (Red Line) every 150K
Water Wetter in Coolant
Average 30-32 mpg overall
(mixed 2 oz acetone with each fill up-premium only)

Why did I sell my 1991 Maxima SE???? That's awesome! I have 134k miles on my 2002 I35. I do miss my Maxima more and more every day. So acetone in every fill up? Is that helping your mpg's?

 

20 year old thread. Just purchased a 2000 infiniti i30 with 198k+ miles on it hoping to get another 50-100k. 👍🏾

 

I've owned roughly 8 vehicles that have made it to 150k miles or more before I either sold or traded them in. It was taboo to keep a vehicle much past 120k miles for a long time due to reliability concerns and fear of it becoming a money pit.
I've only had one vehicle, my 2007 F150 that made it to 288k miles before I sold it, at a profit, ironically to a guy who loved that body style.
It really pays to take care of your car mechanically; you never know who might want to take it off your hands.
My current car, a 2010 Maxima has 186k miles and I hope to make it to 500k before it dies on me.

 

I have a 1998 infiniti i30T and mine has 252,000 miles. Transmission went out around 230k and I replaced it with a salvage transmission with 125k miles.
