Whats the purpose of the LSD on the I30t?

I own a 2000 I30 and am wondering what is purpose of the LSD on the touring models? Would this be a mod I might want to invest in? I would have used the search but its not working now. Thanks in advance for the input.

limited slip diferential. so you can have traction to both wheels rather than spinning out on the drivers side wheel.

The stock LSD is a pretty weak unit. If you're gonna buy one, get a Quaife. BTW, LSD doesn't really help straight line acceleration, it mainly helps going around corners, and in the rain/snow.

Cattman has the quaife LSD but only for 5-speeds? Is there one for autos?

your car is not going to handle like a sports car LSD or not. It will help a little though. For stock LSD you would have to get a whole new tranny, for aftermarket I don't know if there is LSD for autos
