Hi, Im new to this forum as you can probably see... A little about myself... I used to own a Vw Jetta but the tranny blew so i sold it. Now I have found a 03 I35 that im thinking of getting but i have a few questions......

My friend just bought a 00 I30 green with rear window shade and headed seats but its not the T version....

I found a used 03 I35 grey with black leather, window shade but no heated seats... is heated seats a option or is it standard?

what are the differences between the 00 I30 and the 03 I35??? difference inside and outside of the car?

Someone told me that Nissan/Infiniti's dont have CHECK ENGINE lights... they have a SERVICE soon light instead.... Is this TRUE?

I know i35 comes with HID while the i30T come with hid. Do both years have seat memories? Also are they I35 keys the electronic/transponder kind? I think the owner has only 1 key for the car.... how much would a spare key cost?

if u can get a i35 for a good price then its worth it for sure. the major differences are HIDs, bigger better rims, and most importantly the 3.5L engine thats supposed to make 255hp rather than 222hp on the i30. umm my i35 doesnt have heated seats so thats not standard. the tail lights look different on teh i35, dashboard is diff, there are plenty of lil differences im sure other members will go into detail on them. comparing an i30 to an i35 is basically like comparing a 00 max to a 03 max if you know anything about those cars

 

Check engine light, Service engine light, they are all the same thing.

 

The i35 has different seats, different stereo, different rims, grill, headlights, engine of course, larger infiniti symbol on the trunk, and an engine cover that says, (get this!) INFINITI!

so are you saying the i30/i35 doesnt have a Check engine light... but it has a Service soon light that is used in the case, just like a Check engine light is? Every car that I have seen has a CEL (check engine light) but I didnt seen it on this 03 i35 that I saw... im buying it used and i was guessing the guy could have taken out the bulb for the CEL or something else... I just want to make sure the car doesnt have a CEL because it wont pass smog in CA and it could have a serious problem.

I saw a i35 but its headlights had dark housing.... Which models come with these?

 

Yes, it has a light that informs you when something is wrong with a sesnor or what not. Not seeing it is a good thing, it only lights up when there is a problem.

Chrome exhaust on I35.. my I30t doesn't have one. The rear lights are reversed, red on top, or red on bottom, I also can't remember which one is which lol. The guage cluster on the 00 is three dimensional, while the one on the 03 is somewhat electro-lumniscent, and flat, It's got a mercedes feel to it. The shifter is in the J form on the 03' while its just straight back and forth on the 00. Heated seats are an option, it comes with the cold weather package. Wood steering wheel without package, leather steering wheel with cold package. HIDs are standard now (yay), whereas you get the standard halogens on the 00' unless it's a T model. The grille is horizontal and more aggressive on the 03, whereas the grille is vertical and more 'prestigious' on the 00'. Steering wheel controls are more integrated and don't 'stick out' for the stereo on the 03. Oh and about the shifter, there's no overdrive off button anymore, you can just flick the shifter left and you can easily shift between 2-3 instead, and push it back right for overdrive.

 

I could not have said it any better myself. You missed one detail thats different between the I30, I35. The I35 is bigger. (Not by that much of a difference. but its longer and wider.)

I just got an '00 I30t and they only had one key. The keys are the type with a transponder so you can't go to Lowe's and just get a reproduction. You have to go to the dealer to get another key because they have to program it to the car's computer. It was a real shock when I learned the new key cost $120! Especially knowing that regular reproductions only cost a couple bucks. I guess it's worth it if it really helps prevent the theft of the car.

I know a place in SoCal that can get any car keys for way cheaper than the stealership.... My bro's Gs400 has one key too... the dealer wanted a couple hundred... while this place can make one for $80. Im sure the I35 key doesnt cost more than the Gs400 key since it doesnt have a transponder on it... or a weird key design like the lexus.... I will find out how much this place sells replacement keys for the i30/i35... if you would like the phone # etc let me know ill post it

 

Thats weird, here in Al, Crown Infiniti only wants $80 for the second key, $75 for the remote. I bought my 2002 (used of course) and it only had 2 keys out of the four the car comes with brand new. I only got one remote though.

 

I didnt notice a difference in size...maybe I'll go outside and measure them lol.
In my garage is a 01' i30t and a 03' i35 both same color. I swear they look identical in size...

 

Its not by that much as I stated before. But its all in the interior, where its almost impossible to determine. The interior has about less than a millimeter total more cubic interior space.

I checked my owners manual in my 2002 I35 just to be sure the figures were accurate for the 2003. Kinda petty I agree but it is bigger. LOL
