Why does I35 have 255hp and G35 have more?

Hi,

I was wondering why the I35 has less power than the G35/350z??
Im pretty sure its the same exact motor... but a thing or two different. Does anyone know exactly whats different between the two cars? I wouldnt mind an extra ~30hp

Thanks

Little bit different intake manifolds and exhausts are the only things I know of.

They are not swappable. The 5th Gen gurus have attempted this with the Z manifold (same as the G35 manifold), but it would not fit properly under the hood.

A few things to consider. The G35 is RWD thus the engine sits differently than in the FWD I35. Intake on I35 may be more restrictive. But the bottom line is probably marketing. there is really no way to tell what the real horsepower is unless you dyno your car. who knows you might really be putting out 260 at the crank.
