Y pipe question

I have a 03 I35 and have some questions about the y pipe. Who all makes them and is there any links to them. What is the average price on them and what type of gains are being noticed. And lastly how much difference in exhaust tone is there because I dont want anything loud just a little more power and torque.

A y-pipe with out any other exhaust modifications will cause almost no noise increase at all. You may notice a tiny bit of rasp commin from the muffler, but for the most part it sounds like stock. Expect to gain 10-12whp from the Y-pipe through out most of the rpm band. A y-pipe alone can take 2-3 tenths off 1/4 ET.

There is not one Y-pipe that is really superior to others, it's just a matte of how much you want to spend.

I want to get a a new exhaust and y pipe but is it true that you no longer have a catilytic converter when you put the pipe on, because i still need to pass my emissions

The Y-pipe will get rid of the 2 pre-cats that are right after the exhaust manifold. Those cats are for emissions on cold starts. It does not do anything with the main cat that is after the Y-pipe and before the B-pipe. I have passed emssions with the 2 pre-cats removed. Just make sure your car is up to full operating temperature before testing.

Is there anyone from Cali with a Y pipe? emissions here are...
how much more power would the pipe give? If i remember correctly i read it was around 15-20hp.... Is that WHP? i doubt it... but worth the question...

For a 96-99 I30/max it gives 12-15hp, but the gains are through the entire rpm band. A Y-pipe is good for .3 and 3mph, which is huge gains for such a simple mod.

how much hp does it make for a 02+ i35????
is that WHP? or just at the fly?

if its at the fly... then its not worth the mod...
couple hundred dollars for 6whp?
