Sound deaden i30

I was just curious if anyone has done this to their i30.... my car seems pretty quiet already, however I am going take part of my semester break while I am not working and dedicate to tearing my car apart to get rid of my blose. How carried away I should get and has anyone seen a huge impact from doing any specific area. I will have the door panels off so I figure I may as well do them.

thanks in advance,

Jake

My 99 I30 seems to have alot of road noise coming from the back coming from the the trunk. Looking around back there I didn't see anything in the way of sound deadning. I am considering doing the rear deck lid, behind the rear seat , trunk floor and wheel wells. Have alot of other projects going on so don't know when I will get to It. Right now I have a whirring buzzing noise come out of the instrument cluster thats alot more annoying. If I had my door panels off I would go ahead and and sound deaden them , can't hurt.

Yeah maybe I will just do the trunk while I am at it... but damn it's going to be cold out trying to do this (garage isn't heated). I listened today and didn't hear a whole lot of road noise from the rear, there was some but more of it is from my windows etc. I have a slight air leak in my drivers side door that sometimes gets noisy.

Definately more quiet than my 95 civic I am going to look up some information on doing this.... anyone have any tips?? How do you do the rear deck / rear seat? Just cover everything or do you not go over holes etc..... Any specific problem areas? Not sure how carried away to get.

Thanks guys

I just purchased an '01 I30 to replace my '99 I30 and I immediately noticed that the '01 I30 is much noisier and has a rougher ride. The rougher ride, I don't mind since it does handle better, but has anyone else noticed that it's noisier?

You know when I got my car, it was loud from the rear. However, I changed my tires to michlelans and added a simple form backing to the back of my car, it's a whole lot better.

I'm interested in this form backing that you mentioned. Could you tell us more what you did?
