We (96-99) are not as overweight as I thought

Before I owned the I30 I use to quite often read in the 4th Gen forums how "much heavier" the I30 is than the Maxima. I had read that the I30 was heavier and slower (obvious the later of the two is not true) with guys running in the low 14s with I30.

According to MSN auto
the 4th Gen Maxima with a manual tranny weighs 3010 lbs
the I30 of the same generation in 5spd weighs in @ 3080 lbs. I assume the extra weight is sound deadening (sp) and I am sure the hood is heavier than the Maxima because of the grill.

Even at 3080 lbs the is quite a bit lighter than most other sedans on the road. I also assume with Y pipe and suspension upgrade the car probably drops another 30 lbs. BTW does anyone know the weight of the Senior Citizen looking BBS stock rims? Mike mentioned they were pretty light.

Thanks,
Pat

I30 is also couple inches longer and wider than Maxima, but yea, I agree with you on the speed... Our cars are a lot faster than the appearance suggests...

Are they really wider? Then I wonder why my interior fits so perfect... I have a E-Spec Maxima QX wich consists of a I30 body with a US-spec Maxima interior... How would it be able to fit if the car is actualy wider then the interior? :S

My car weighed in at 3130 with me on the scales at the track. That was with passanger seat and spare removed along with a 1/4 tank of gas.

The stock BBS wheels weigh about 14lbs. The are great track wheels, I wish I still had mine.

Pat: You want to trade your stockers for my 17's????

My race weight was about 3120 without me in the car. I took out the spare and jack, but have added 3 packs of Dynamat, and Stage 1&2 SFCs.
