Stock RSB? 96 i30t

when i bought my i30t, it already had a few mods on it... i'm curious if the RSB was an aftermarket addition of if it was a stock thing?

reason i ask is cause i feel that it isn't quite as tight as i'd like it.. and if it's worth upgrading the bar. the car still has a bit of body roll now, and if that's the case, what was it like b4 the bar?!?!?

There is a factory type sway bar integrated into the solid rear beam. It should be real obvious if a aftermarket one has been installed. Look for a bar on the rear beam held on with C clamps. You can probably find a picture of one at www.cattmanperformance.com.

Are you on stock springs? If so that is why you are still feeling body roll, if not then it may depend on what type of spring your running.

If you do indeed have an aftermarket RSB, take it off and see how the car feels without one. The stock handeling on an I30t is decent, but there will be plenty of body roll and understeer if pushed hard in corners.

Some members have actually complained about RSB (aftermarket) and have removed them, like Mike said.

i'm indeed on stock springs.. and want to get some less bus like cornering characteristics without sacrificing toooooo much of the comfort....i think i saw a thread somewhere on here re: spring rates... but then again maybe i'm dreaming... lol

i don't want to take the bar off cause then it'll be even more of a whale!

hmmm so the factory stock bar is held on by c-clamps... i saw c clamps... so that is factory then? or do allll sway bars for the i30 attach that way?

This is what an aftermarket RSB will look like.

ahhh i see... that brings to mind another question now... how much of a diff will that make compared to the factory one... mine looks like that.. but with c-clamps.. what then is the diff i'd be able to expect..

on my other car, a protege 5, i upped the sway bar from the stock 17mm to a 19mm with a 2 way adjustable.. and on the stiff setting it was .... most excellent. much tighter...

the picture you posted mike, looks almost like mine in terms of heft (hard to judge of course) is the size diff? what IS the factory stock measure vs. the aftermarket.. ??
