Trunk lid not opening

Ok, when my car still wasn't mine, it got into a little accident down the highway. It got rear-ended by another car, the insurance fixed it, but the trunk lid since then doesn't open from inside, or with the remote. The factory warranty has just expired. I always have to use the key to open it. I can hear it's "clicking", but the trunk stays shut. Anyone knows what could be the exact problem? Or how to fix it? I'm really a newb when it comes to cars so bear with me...

Crawl into your trunnk and make sure the switch that locks out the trunk isn't flipped. Or use the key..that works too. There is a switch on the trunk release that disables all electronic ways to open the trunk, so that when you valet the car, the only thing that can open up the trunk is the key. This feature intrigues me, because on later i30/i35's, the only key hole on the ENTIRE car is on the driver door, and the ignition switch. So if you lock out the trunk, on an I35, the only way to open it, is to crawl into the trunk, and unlock it, then use the remote or door switch. Unless they hid a keyhole somewhere that I can't see. When we first got the car I had to do this to unlock the car..on the showroom floor lol. I suppose it will prevent valets from jacking what you have in the trunk, but they can always open the trunk with the flip down seats.

Thanks for reply. Where exactly in the trunk is that switch? I've never heard of it before.

its right next to the trunk release mechanism (on the bottom part of the latch) you push it down I believe and it should prevent anything but the key from opening it.

Thanks a lot

Hey thanks a lot guys. Today I opened the trunk, and played a little with the switch that you told me about. I don't exactly know what I did, just moved it up and down and it fixed it! Thanks again!
