Key Fob programming not working...any suggestions?

Hey gang, I found the "how to program keyfob" directions and it does not seem to be working. I replaced the batteries and that is not working either. They are both new so they should work. I have heard that if I insert/remove the key too quickly that may cause it not to enter registration mode. Can anyone offer me any help who have had success programming thier 2003 ro equiv. I35? Thanks if you can! Matt

If you haven't done this yet, it may be worth trying.
I was able to reprogram a remote for 2000 I30 successfully with this method

I tried those directions. The only other thing that I can think of is maybe the year remotes I am using. They are the new rectangle ones with 4 buttons. Mine came with the older style oval ones. Thanks for the link though, any other suggestions....this is starting to drive me nuts. I think I am going to wear my key smooth with so many damn failed attempts. Matt

If the FCC ID on the back of the remote is different from the one on the rectangle one, it probably is. I wish I had a rectangle one for you to try but my extra remote is the oval one. It looks like you can buy a rectangle one off ebay less than 20 bucks. I'm not as patient as you seem to be, I would buy a rectangle one and try....

correct the fcc id must match the one you have currently. also you can not have more than three remotes programed at one time.

How do you erase the code of an old remote then. I'm trying to program my new remote right now.. but there could already be three programmed into the car. I've tried the directions over and over.. and can get to the signal blink, but when i press the remote to finalize the reprogram, nothing happens. The hazzards should blink.. but they don't... what's wrong with my car?

Key fob codes are erased whenever the reprogram squence is performed. So you have to reprogram all your key fobs. I have reprogrammed the remotes on my 01 I30 using the technique in the link in which DMaxima posted above. At first it didn't work for me but eventually I got it. Timing is everything! Also, when you program additional key fobs make sure you unlock the driver side door manual (when you read the instructions DMaxima refered to you will know what I mean). If you do it using the electronic lock none of the key fob codes will be saved and you must start all over.
