Cigarette Lighter Power

I have a 1998 i30 and I have noticed that when the car is off the cigarette lighter does not have power. I find it hard to charge my cell phone that way.

Does anyone know how to get power to the lighter all the time? Any help on this would be great.

your cigarette lighter is connected to the ignition wire, so when the car is off the lighter is off, it can only be used when the car is on, i guess its a safety feature or sumthing, i wouldnt charge your cellfone by your car anyways i dont know how much drain it would be on the battery and prob not good for your car or you batt on your cell, if you wanted to u would have to detach the wires fromt he ignition wire and do it straight to the batt, would i reccomend it? no

It would be like leaving your map light on all the time.
