the bulb for the rear turn is supposed to be 1156, but the pins at the bottom/sides of the bulbs aren't the same as regular 1156 bulbs. anyone else encounter this?
Yup, I have the same problem.
I was told that I probably will not find the bulb at many auto parts stores, but to check out little ricer shops. He told me of a place not too far away from me, but they wernt open when I tried. If I find what the exact bulb type is I will post it.

I did, I got a ticket because I made them clear. The problem is that the socket is designed for European style bulbs, where the tabs are offset ever so slightly...couple millimeters. Anyways, I just bought the bulbs, scraped off one of the tabs on the concrete curb, just enough so that it would grab inside the socket, and *poof*, clear bulbs....the chp guy didn't like them so much *grumble*

Maybe I should invest in some of those bulbs with the silver coating but still blink orange. I was also thinking about spraypainting the orange bulbs silver with a high temp. paint. Dont know if the light would still get through though... Or if it would shorten the bulb's life.
