newbie transmission question

I have auto tranny on my '97 I30. I was braking hard and by accident shifted to Neutral while on Drive. Is this ok for the engine and transmission?

I know I shouldn't make the same mistake again(I should leave the transmission alone).

Thanks in advance.

I think it should not be a problem for your trany.

It's not good for your transmission, but that alone won't cause your tranny to fail. I'm no transmission expert, but you probably heard a thud which is bad. Just keep your hand off your shifter from now on and you'll be fine (I learned that the hard way, trust me).
