help a maxima owner add power gas lid pop... please look!

hey guys,
i was hoping you could either show me in pictures or explain to me what is used to pop your gas lid open because in my max, i have to pull a lever. since our cars are made from the same platform and are essentially the same thing in shape down to wiring, i figure it can't be all that much.

in relation to this project, i added power trunk pop because the wiring was there, i simply needed to add the popping solenoid which i got on ebay(oem) and added the power button connecting the wiring. hopefully that's all i need to do for this.

i don't anticipate it to be all that difficult, but if it is, not a big deal, just a project i'd like to do that i can live without.

any help would be much appreciated. hopefully some of you know about this or can take pictures or the button and wires and such.

thanks

Not of any help to you, sorry, but wouldn't a power gas lid have the potential to cause an explosion? If the solenoid shorted or something it could ignite the petrol fumes = big boom?

ha that's an interesting thought. i imagine there's a chance for anything and everything, but i'm sure nissan/infiniti designed it around that and have never heard of that problem actually happening.

thanks for the free bump.

What pictures do you want..just one of the button on the dash? I can do that for you, but I am not going to remove it to take a pic of the wires.

i was hoping just for any info like what the harness looks like and what color the wires were. vsamloyov(or however it's spelled) is hopefully getting me some diagrams cuz he installed it but until then, i was hoping to just figure out roughly how i can do it. maybe i'll look for a totalled i30 at junkyards around and try to get the stuff out, i just don't know specifically how to get to the popping solenoid and how hard it will be.

i doubt the maxima is prewired for it at all but you never know with these things.

Not exactly. If the solenoid is placed in the front or cabin of the car and it pops to pull the cable that latches the fuel door. That should not pose any safety issues. Did that make any since? Contact your Nissan and/or Infiniti parts manager. My local guy has been great about info and letting me browse through the shop manual for specific things.

well i went to the dealer for another part and asked about that stuff while i was there. let's just say, i'm better off going to a junkyard so hopefully i can find someone on here that can get me the stuff cheap.

if any of you have a parts car or know of one, it would be much appreciated!!
