96 I30t Ash Tray Light

My ash tray light is out and I am looking to replace it but I don't have the slightest clue how. Any tips?

You need to remove the plastic part around the shifter. Fairly easy task, just get a flat head screw driver and gently pry each corner up (you might want to move the gear shifter down to 1 if it's an auto).

Once you've done that, it should just lift off (you'll probably want to unplug the the cigarrette lighter). Look beside the ash tray and you should see a screw beside it. Once you undo it, you can pull out the ash tray.

Slide the ash tray to the left (or right in your case I think) and then work on pulling it out, could take a bit of trying, it's fairly resistant on coming out . Once you manage to remove it, unplug the cable going to it and then it'll be free so you can inspect it in a better location.

Hope this helps, let me know if you run into problems

I am sure you know this, but if you go to the dealer, you can buy the bulb for your ash tray fairly cheap. You might be able to buy it at an auto parts store also if you're like me and HATE the dealer! lol Good luck.

PS. I think the bulb is very very tiny.
