Yo I'm New to car customizing. i have a champagne color 1998 i30, which i just bought a little over a month ago. Both bumpers have bings and scratches and I was thinking about a paint job since I bought it. I was thinking about painting it jet black, like the kind of black that sparkles. Are paint jobs worth it? I mean ive heard that gettin ur car painted is never as good as the factory paint. I also heard thatwhen u get a paint job the paint cracks and flakes much faster then the factory paint. anyone have any advice? are paint jobs worth it?

 

When it comes to repainting cars, you get what you pay for. It costs more to repaint a car a different color as well. A cheap Maaco job might cost you $500-$1000, but a quality job done by a local paint shop would probably run you $2000 - $3000 and you wouldn't have to worry about your paint peeling in the near future.

And yes, it is true that nothing compares to a factory finish.

 

It is possible to get a beautiful, after-market paint job, but as Colossus mentioned, they're gonna cost quite a bit. If you go for a cheap paint job, you'd be lucky if it lasted a year before degradation like flaking and cracking started.

You need to be ready to drop quite a bit of coin if you're looking for a quality paint job. $2000 - $3000 is a good start, but I'd say you couldn't guarantee a perfect, life-long paint job until you were in the $5000 or higher range.

 

i dont got no dough like that.... so i guess im chalkin that idea for now... is there any way i can get my nicks and scratches fixed so that u cant even tell without paintin the whole car?

I also have another question. When i bought the car it came with a 2 inch scratch on the passenger side window. can that be fixed without buying a replacement window? how much will all this run me? the car cost me enough... dayum thats alotta cash
