New rims and tires finally installed! Pics!

The rims are a set of 15 x 7" BBS rims that were a dealer performance package item on an Infiniti Q45a. These rims have a 36mm offset and 7" width. After installing them in the car, I see that the lip on them is about 1" further out tham the OEM BBS rims, giving them stance that looks like aftermarket. The fact that the rims are only 13 lb. each does not hurt either.

I decided to go with Falken Ziex-512 tires in a 215-60-15 size. I got them for about $70 each with lifetime balance and road hazard protection (retail on them is $73 each for the tires alone).

I am pleased with the new ride, and the traction seems to be great, especially for a tire in this size. I had worried that they might not be a comfortable tire, but that is not the case at all.

I reformatted my cardomain page as well, if anyone is interested.

Oh, and before anyone says it, I had these rims before my man I30tMikeD, BUT he got them installed first.

Plus, they are a BIT different.

They are about a 1lb maybe 1.5lbs heavier because they are wider. Still light though.

My oem I30t rims were 14 lb. These are 13 lb. The design allows them to be a bit lighter, though I am not sure how. I read it on a Q45 site somewhere.

Mine are 13 lb, and the reported weight on the I30 rims was 14. I could have had a problem w/ the scale since it was a relatively light object, but I am fairly certain on that. I also read it somewhere on a Q site when I was shopping for the rims to begin with.

If the were possibly too sizes bigger (17's) these wheels would look hot.

LOL...if they were 17"s they would defeat the purpose of buying these rims in the first place.

But they probably would look better.

I sometimes really want to go out and purchase rims like those to give me a little extra performance, but in my opinion its just not worth the look (especially if you're coming from 17 or 18" wheels).

Dude if you were going to buy a set of tires why didnt you just go with 17s?

When I switched from 15s to 17s the best thing was how the car looked. The 2nd best was how it turned. No stupid tire squeal.

Then I lowered it (eibach because i'm a wuss) and

I went down from 16s to 15s for several reasons. Bad roads, cheaper tires, lighter rims, better width and offset, and simply, price. I have a wife in school, a $1250 rent, 2 car payments (I30 and a 2k3 Celica), and I have other mods that I want to do.

17s would not be practical for me.

I went from 15's to 17's back to 15's. I had the same quality tire on both the 17's and the 15's, Bridgestone Potenza RE950. The handleing difference was very slight.
