New member looking for I35 shop manual

Hi, I’m new to the Maxima.org forum and have been lurking and learning for the last week or so and wanted to say that this is the best Infinity forum I could find, good links to everything from moding to detailing. Thanks for all the info.

I have always loved the styling of the 5th gen. Max. But by the time I could justify buying a new one the body style changed, welcome the 6th gen. Max. While the 6th gen. is stylish, it’s lost the classic lines that I have been dreaming of owning for the last 3 years.

Thanks to Infinity for the great deals on the new 04 I 35 (is this the last year?). I now have the classic lines, the powerful and reliable V6, and all the luxury I can stand. I guess that it’s true “good things come to those that wait”.

Sorry to ramble but could anyone direct me to an online dealer that sells shop manuals (Haynes or Chilton) for the I35? Now a days if you want to change a light bulb you had better know what trim piece to remove first or you could end up breaking something.

Any help would be appreciated thanks, Vince.

Haynes and Chilton don't make a manual for the I30, but they do for the Maxima (for 3rd gen. and 4th gen. not sure about 5th). If you are just looking for a manual to get you past small stuff, it should work fine. However, if you are going to be doing more complicated tasks, get the FACTORY shop manual from Dymant Distributing @ 1-800-247-5321. They have ALL Infiniti/Nissan manuals available. Oh, and never ever trust the information Chiltons provides for sensor testing. They don't know what the hell the are talking about!

Somewhere between $100-$150, but it is well worth it! The Chiltons/ Haynes manuals are pieces of ****.

the Haynes is alright for most basic repairs, I have an FSM as well and hardly ever use it.

Yeah I know, but I am still venting from that rear bank lean CEL where Chiltons gave the completely wrong procedure for testing the O2 sensors with a voltmeter. Only until I got the correct procedure from the FSM was I able to determine that the O2s needed to be replaced in order to solve the problem.

Also, most recently I was changing the T-Belt on my 92 Acura Vigor and the Chiltons said to spin the crank gears COUNTER clockwise instead of the FSM for that car which said to spin clockwise. I could have totally screwed up the timing and damaged the head or pistons!!
