performance....
performance....
okay i have an automatic i30...the thing is...which mods are the best when it comes to performance?(other than switching to manual)...which has the most noticeable gain in anything?? anyone out there with an automatic that has a heavily modified 96 i30?
First get a cold air intake, then start with the y-pipe and full exhaust, all that could add somehwere near 20hp and you will feel it, tho the y-pipe can be expensive, and i dont really know where or how to get a "budget y-pipe". If you really are speed-crazed, Nitrous is a good, cheap option that will add a s hi t ton of horsepower...
Any mods for a manual are perfectly acceptable for an auto (except items that are directly related to the 5-speed set up). Start with an intake (CAI or HAI), y-pipe, and then b-pipe. I dynoed out an extra 29 whp and 19 ft/lb of torque with that set up.
my plan is to make my i30 the one of the most luxurious and sportiest infinitis around... so heres what i had in plan....
Tein H-Class Springs, tokicko struts, undecided rims, headrest monitors, 3200 watt audio, cefiro grille and headlights, suicide trunk and rear door conversions, shaved side moldings,cf front lip, stillen sideskirts, hks exhaust, budget y-pipe, K & N air intake w/ nismo head, two tone interior, custom glow gauges,,,,
i'll leave it at that...heheh but yeah, dont know exactly how long it'll take but it shouldnt be that long...prolly 2 years as long as my luck with my 30 gets better...

B-pipe is pretty much the pipe between the cat and the muffler.

The b-pipe is the section of piping betweeen the cat and the muffler. I got about 8whp alone from it beacuse it removes restrictive bends and crimps in the exhaust, and anyone that has done the exhaust knows that Nissan gave this car one st!tty stock exhaust.
Definitly do the two toned interior leather it looks slick!
Here is mine, it is not that hard to install.

You think only f@g posers race sohcs, huh? So someone who races an 04 Acura TL with 270 hp sohc 6sp is a f@g poser, huh? Well, those things beat the Infiniti G35/ Nissan Skyline in the quarter mile pal!

Just a few days ago I ate my friends 95 Honda Civic SI with headers, cams, and cat back for breakfast!! I had at least two car lenghts on him!!

chill out bro, when i say sohc's im mean d16's.
and that 95 si has a sohc d16 vtec, so all that work he has done is a little less than equal to about a stock b16. if you didnt know the the 95 si starts at 125 @ the crank. so your happy about that????

hey bro my boy has a prelude type s in his civic and a gsr in a hatch cannot see his tail light so you thinking you did something great a gsr come with 178 hp to the crank and your boy probably keep power steering /ac so he id probably pushing 150hp on a cool night so get your **** straight bro
You get your **** straight.... GSR "TYPE-R" is 195 crank not 178. In 1997, Acura introduced a highly modified version of the 1.8-liter from the GS-R for its high-performance "Type-R" model. All-new connecting rods are hand-torqued, ports are hand-polished, while a new forged-steel crankshaft comes with counterweights made with special metallurgy techniques to reduce vibration and bending fatigue. The revised engine includes oval intake springs, dual-exhaust valve springs, thin-stemmed valves and lighter die-cast aluminum pistons with molybdenum-coated skirts. Additional oiling passages and new crowns help boost the compression ratio from 10.0:1 to 10.6:1. In addition, a special camshaft gives higher lift and longer overlap to match a bigger-bore exhaust and freer-breathing exhaust manifold, which features a single wide runner per cylinder rather than smaller twin passages. Finally, the crackle-red finish on the engine's cam cover help set it apart visually from the GS-R's engine.
Also, I don't care what your boy's civic does or has, I whipped that Civic SI w/ that engine swap.

Also I would like to say a gsr and type r engine are 2 differant engines. They have everything different. Even the motor codes are different b18c for gsr and b18c5 for type R. That is why when you said GSR engine he probally said that they were 178hp and not 195hp

But, you are right, I should have said that it was a type-r in the begining.
As far as my 1/4 mile time goes, my best ET is 14.77. There are many other members that have far surpassed that number, but I am still proud of it.
As far as cars that I have recently beat besides the civic si w/ gsr type r engine, headers, cams, down pipe, fart can, and intake are: 94 Maxima SE with fart can (held pretty good from 1st and 2nd gear, gave me a good run, but he lost), 94-97 Accord with fart can, 93-97 Lexus GS 300 (totally desroyed), 95-99 Eclipse gst with fart can (a little more difficult but still one by about a car lengh or more, the turbo put him at 210 bhp and 214 btq at 2800 lbs.), 94-03 Mustang GT (beat by about two car lenghts last winter, she seemed unmoded mechanicaly, but that car is rated at 215 bhp at 3100 lbs., pretty gutless for a V8), A Ford Focus SVT with headers, intake, and down pipe (more than three car lenghts) other than that my other races include civics, camerys and asorted trucks, which never even came close.
To be honest, I don't really street race too much. I like to keep it legal at the track. Most of my races are amongst friends down there, where it is safe to race.
